R20 Sunday Escape - 'Not Quite' London to Brighton Run II

News from our first 'Sunday Escape' of 2015

The early spring sunshine warmed us as we gathered at our start point.  Fortified with bacon sandwiches we were ready to head south and we soon hit the twisty B Roads clearing the cobwebs from our exhausts.  Our route was a homage to the traditional London to Brighton, with a few R20 London twists thrown in.

At the far end of the downs there is plenty of fun to be had as the road curves around the hillsides flowing with the rolling countryaide.  The springtime chorus of sports exhausts disturbing the Sunday morning peace as we passed through the pretty villages, heading ever onwards towards the coast.

The fine weather had brought out the cyclists on DitchIing Beacon crawling their way to the top. Once the summit had been reached the open sweeping roads across the downs gave views as far as you could see before we descended toward the coast.

We joined the holidaymakers heading for the beach, past the Brighton Pavilion to the Pier, where we turned onto the famous Madeira Drive.  A slow cruise along the seafront and we were soon tunring heads.  Time for lunch; a short jog along the coast to an R20 favourite.

It was amazing how many of our members wanted to do this run and we ended up with a very long waitlist. So as we could not take eveyone we shall be running this later in the month for our members who missed out.
