A superbly attended Porsche Club Motorsport awards dinner saw sponsors, competitors and guests enjoy a great evening at the Hilton Puckrup Hall Hotel near Tewkesbury on Saturday November 23rd, with the winners from across the club’s four competitive series honoured.
The Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club National Hillclimb Championship field were the first to receive trophies, with Herman Conradie of Petro-Canada Lubricants handing over the silverware, and David Dyson, twice Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Speed Championship, added that crown to his growing collection. The Porsche Club Speed Championship was as tight as ever with the series running to revised regulations for the first time, and Justin Mather, a previous champion, took the overall honours at the end of a tight-fought season.
The Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli season was a family affair, with former double-champion Peter Morris winning class one in his 997 C2S, while son Ross claimed the class two and overall titles – his first championship win. The team title went again to Leeds-based Strasse, who ran not only the Morris family cars but the Cayman S of race-winner Chris Dyer who was second in class one.
Benedict McLoughin claimed the 2019 Classic Restoracing Championship title after a dominant display in the Porsche Centre Bournemouth Boxster, and received his trophy from Jonathan Wells of Pirelli. With a feature of the series that the car that scores points rather than the driver, second went to Porsche Centre Wolverhampton duo William Heslop and Christian Short, Heslop being one of only two drivers to head McLoughlin home in a race all season.
Porsche Club Motorsport was delighted to have representatives of several major sponsors present for the evening, including title sponsors Petro-Canada Lubricants and Pirelli. The evening was boosted by the support of other sponsors with club insurers Locktons sponsoring the table win for the evening. Shami Kaira from watchmakers Omologato was in attendance to hand over one of his company’s motorsport themed watches to the champions, while Jonathan Barnes from race equipment supplier Stand 21 took to the stage to present a pair of bespoke driving boots – embroidered with the driver’s name – to each of the four champions.
