Region 2 members Paul Barlow and Brian Innes both have successes in different fields to celebrate.
Paul was the winner of local detailing company Polished Bliss's Show & Shine prize for May, and gives a detailed account of his efforts on their website. Well done Paul, it looks like lots of hard work, but what a result!
Meantime Brian Innes, who you will recall hosted an enjoyable motorsport evening for us at the Lairhillock earlier this year, has been on track again with his Cayman R with some success at the Grampian Auto Club's Alford sprint meeting.
Brian says, "Yesterday I entered the Grampian Automobile Club’s sprint at the Alford test track adjacent to the Motor Museum. I am pleased to report a successful result following an epic battle with my rival from last year, Martin Smith in his VX220 Turbo. It was my first competitive event since last September and my first at the Alford track. Following the two morning practice runs, I was getting closer to my rival’s times and the pressure showed when he spun off on his first official timed run leaving me comfortably in first place in the class. Come the final run of the day, I further improved my time to within one second of the class record, only to be pipped by the VX220 Turbo by 0.69 seconds into 2nd place in the class. I was nevertheless delighted with my result and lap times. The event itself was great fun to do, and it was a pleasure to be involved in such a friendly competitive environment again. My CR’s performance continues to surprise both fellow competitors and spectators alike. Mine was the only Porsche competing and a number of curious spectators came up to me in the paddock to see who was doing the driving and to enquire about the CR and ask why it goes so well. I’m pleased that I managed to uphold the Porsche marque profile once again in the competitive public arena."
You can see Brian in action again at the 50th anniversary Fintray Hill Climb on 15 & 16 August. Please go along and cheer him on!
