Silverstone Classic July 2017 Gallery
Our annual trip to what is billed as “The World’s Biggest Classic Motor Racing Festival”
Silverstone Classic 28th – 30th July 2017
This year saw more R3 members than ever heading down South to the iconic Silverstone Classic at the end of July. Every year we end up scattered around various hotels, B&B's and campsites in Northamptonshire, yet somehow always seem to gravitate towards the impressive PCGB stand at around the same time each morning.
If you’ve never attended the Silverstone Classic you really are missing a 3 day treat. There is something for everyone: historic racing (with access to the paddocks), static car displays, trade stands, Retro Run (this year to the Coventry Transport Museum), auctions, driving activities (including Porsche Experience Centre drives), parade laps, aerial displays, fun fairs and live music. The highlight for many members though is the fantastic hospitality on the PCGB stand, in the shadow of the Wellington Straight Grandstand, which members have exclusive access to.
Several of our members extended their weekend away by a few more days and realising that the London Region were hosting their monthly Ace Café meet that Monday night, decided that it was too good an opportunity to miss it; being only an hour away. We also enjoyed a narrow boat ride, a drive through the Cotswolds, finishing with an obligatory stop at Cornbury House, PCGB HQ, and a visit to 944 Restoration’s premises in Banbury.
