Europe’s number one historic motorsport show
Race Retro 24th February 2018 As a Region, this was a first for us, but there were a few of us willing to give it a try. It’s fair to say that everyone who attended gave it a big thumbs up. The welcoming faces of the Cornbury House Team and a chance of a sit down to rest of weary feet was appreciated, after wandering the halls looking at trade stands and autojumble. It's always a privilege, as a petrol head, to be able to get up close to iconic race cars of any era and to be encouraged and welcomed by teams, drivers and owners to their display areas that aren’t preciously roped off is a fantastic bonus. Couple this with rally spectator stages where you could pay a small fee to become a passenger, makes this show a real winner. How many of our members spent time in the forests of our region waiting for the cars of the Lombard RAC Rally (& later the Network Q) to come through; the marshals whistles, the smell of burning oil and rubber and the many different engine sounds and exhaust pops and bangs at Race Retro took you straight back there.

On a bitterly cold day a group of us went to Spedeworth Motorsports stock car racing at Aldershot Raceway. We had 17 races, the final being a destruction derby.
