Our annual season opening drive
Clear Away the Cobwebs 7th April 2019
Our Clear Away the Cobwebs run is on the first Sunday of April each year, which can be a bit of a gamble with the weather. This year started out a little damp, cleared up for most of the day before the mist descended. Not that the weather has ever deterred us from enjoying our cars, especially when so many were eager to get their cars out after the winter.
Our morning started with breakfast and a drivers’ briefing in the Winter Gardens at Beamish Hall. Cars set off in small groups to avoid congestion on the roads through the Northumberland countryside; 40 Porsches and their smiling occupants on their way to Alnwick Tree House, where we were met by more members.
After lunch, those who weren’t in a hurry to get home (and hadn't fallen out with their navigators), regrouped in the car park to continue on the scenic coastal route to Seahouses and Bamburgh Castle. After a quick photo opportunity, at Bamburgh, we headed back inland past Chillingham Castle on our way home, with a few stalwarts stopping for a final coffee in Rothbury. Safe to say that the cobwebs are well and truly cleared.
