New to the brand and looking for some guidance on a few points

I'm completely new to the brand, after I recently acquired a nearly new 2016 991.2 Carrera S, not via an official Porsche outlet, I have also joined the club. I have a few questions that perhaps some of the experts could advise me on.

Just got a message on the car that the emergency assistance contract has expired. I assume this is part of the 3 year assistance package that comes with a new car. How do I get the balance of the package initiated, I assume that somehow this has terminated. I have sent a message to Porsche GB, but no reply as yet.

I'm in the process of trying to get the Porsche connect set up and working to use the balance of the 2 year subscription. Not having much success yet and currently with the connect support team. What does this feature actually do and practically is it any good?

I'm also in the process of trying to set up the Porsche car connect set up and working. I have a code that needs to be inputted to the pcm by the local Porsche centre. The issue here seems to be that it was already configured and now waiting for the current set up to be disabled by the service provider.

Hi Ivan,
The emergency assistance contract is the tracker and breakdown system that has an annual subscription. Yours has expired and needs renewal. This is run for Porsche by Vodafone +441282473732 registration-uk@vodafonetelematics.com

The Porsche Car Connect system allows you to remotely monitor and communicate with your car via your mobile and carry out certain physical functions. You can get more info here http://www.porsche.com/uk/connect/ and if you download the app onto your mobile, there is a demonstration programme there to show you how all it works.
Regards,
Clive

Thanks Clive
I sussed that the tracker monitoring contract had expired after contacting my local OPC.
I have set up Porsche Connect subscription as far as I can go, but it's not working properly, waiting for their help desk to fix. I can log onto the on line portal but I can't make any changes.
I have set up the car connect as far as I can, but I'm waiting for Vodaphone to cancel the last user, then need the local OPC to input the new PCM code, so that I can then connect my phone etc.

I had similar issues, however mine was bought through a dealership. You need an invitation email to the connect portal which will then "enable" the other features, such as google earth etc etc

Progress update:

After I signed up on the Vodafone website, got the last owners subscription cancelled and had the dealership enter the new PCM code, I have the Vodafone car connect up and running. Undecided if I will renew after the trial subscription expires. I'm not convinced it's worth £100 per year to me, I do think it's a bit of a gimmick really.

I have the Porsche Connect apps up and running, except for the twitter app which won't configure in the online portal, unless I'm doing something wrong. Again I'm not that convinced it's of much benefit to me, unlikely I would renew the subscription when it expires. I don't have much need of checking flight arrivals etc.
