Hi Frank I changed my own ims bearing for the ims solution. this is a oil feed solid bearing like the old air cooled models. My c4s is a tip so I had to drop the lot in one. Took me a week doing after work hours. I found the whole project very satisfying and I've learned so much about this car. The old bearing was a single row one and I did have some play from side to side. So yes I'm glad I've changed it and yes the ims solution is around 1400 incl much cheaper than a rebuild. If you need a chat pm me and I'll send my number.

Not a very exciting post but thought that after working abroad for 10 days, the first thing I did after arriving home was to drive my 996 C4S...always a good experience after not driving it for a while.

I had the pleasure once again to join with one of the Cotswolds Region's (R31) monthly Sunday meetings.  The sun shone and the Gateway Hotel in Burford again hosted us and provided coffee and nibbles while we filled their car park with about 20 Porsches.   Next outing is the Cornbury House Xmas open day this coming weekend so see you there.
Looking forward, I didn't go on the Cotswolds Rally in 2017 but it's a definite for 2018.

Nice pic and plate Steve :-)

Have you changed your rear light clusters? If so, what did you change them to?

Couldn't resist the plate!  It'll be staying with me if I ever change the 911 for another (although very happy with what I have).  The rear lights are LED but were on it when I bought the car so I cannot tell you what make they are.  Same with the fronts - just makes the car that little bit different. See it in the flesh at the Club Xmas open day.

What did I do today? Not for me the drive across empty moorland roads in the crisp winter air, feeling the perfect chassis balance through a set of curves. I picked up the spruce for Christmas, proving the point that the 'posh Beetle' is not too posh to still pull it's weight.

Hi to all,
Not been on for ages and I’m sorry for that, but back in October I had the 996 repainted and it looks new again, I took it apart and rebuilt it again, I absolutely love it.
For months before I restored and rebuilt the whole of the underneath of the car and upgraded what I could.
sorry cannot upload a pic for some reason.

I only bought it yesterday so probably can't comment on what I've done to it as I won't pick it up for about another week It's a 996 3.4 with  29K on the clock so I guess it won't need a lot of work doing but I do intend to take it  to CG to have the suspension looked at. Apart from that I won't be doing a lot to it.

Hi all,
I popped into the new Porsche centre in Sidcup for an hour or so.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and they have a great selection of cars to look at too.
The 1980 Porsche 924 Le Mans was there on display as well, great to see it in the flesh.
Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Hello all,

Short term reader, shorter term owner, first time poster! :)

I cleaned and treated my hood, for its trip out to PCGB HQ for the open day on 4th March, where I hope to sign up as a full member and meet a few new people! :) Stupidly, I didn't take any pics and now it's back in the garage, so here's some from the weekend I got it, late last year.

Look forward to sharing hints tips and ownership quirks with people :)

Thanks,

Mark

Couldn't resist the plate!  It'll be staying with me if I ever change the 911 for another (although very happy with what I have).

I take it you weren't the winning bidder of your sister plate that was on sale yesterday?! :)

Not me.  Wouldn't mind getting "POR 911" if it exists and is ever up for sale  -  not that I could afford it!!  I suspect I could buy a holiday cottage for the price of that one.
