Cayman Register Members on this Forum?

I raised this question recently on another post but I'd be interested to know (as, no doubt, would Kevan) how many Register members either post on, or follow this forum. I've a reasonable idea who you are but it would be useful to have it formalised here.

Perhaps you'd also be good enough to indicate your location/region and whether or not you attend your monthly meetings, either on a regular or occasional basis.

I appreciate that many posts are from Guests of the Club, for which we're all grateful, but initially I'd like to confine responses to Club Members. If there's a good response then perhaps it would be worthwhile compiling a list of Guests too - who knows, we might even be able to persuade them of the benefits of Club Membership..!

Many thanks,

Motorhead Jeff (R10 & R24 - Regular attendee at meetings)

I have been on here for 8 years+ and posted a few times.

Recently relocated to Derbyshire and going 4 days per week in 2013 when I should be able to get to more (R8 - East Midlands) club meets.

Jonty,

Yorkshire
1st Monday of the month at 8pm Woodlands Hotel, Leeds LS27 7LY

But at this time of year, check with the Regional Officer by email in Porschefile as Christmas meetings dinners etc tend to mess things up a bit.

Many thanks for your responses chaps.

As I suspected, there aren't many of us - rather disappointing really - and we're probably outnumbered by Guests.!

I'll let this run for a couple more days to see if we pick up any stragglers.

Jeff, while we do get those from other registers and guests it will be best to run it for around 4 weeks or even until Christmas as some only come onto the forum at weekends or occasionally, I know Spudwiser is a register member who joins in from time to time but so far hasn't been to the region ( he's in 8 same as me ) and there are others. Out of 252 register members some must take a look now and then.

Note that I've moved this to the main Cayman Forum as maybe it will be more visible. Maybe not everyone uses the today's entries but may go straight to the Cayman register

Thanks Kevan - probably a better location to pose the question.

As you say, there are probably others who'll come along at some stage; CaymanWirral, dyallan and glewis have posted recently and I had a conversation with chrisH some time ago on the Forum.

Jeff,

Yes, I'm around but nothing of interest lately.
What happened to the 981launch, not appearing at LA show then?
Did you get your new rear tyres after the track event?

Hi James, Welcome to the club. You are in Region 8 as am I, in fact I live just outside Derby, if you go to your profile then you can enter things in your signature and the Avatar notes to give a little detail regarding your location and notes that you may wish to publish on the forum useful when anyone is trying to make contact concerning event in an area and such as they can email through the forum.

Hi Chris,

Yes, I've replaced the rear tyres with P Zeros again since the fronts still have plenty of tread left (4mm outer; 6mm centre). The N/S rear was down to 2.5mm at the centre.

The tyre technician was surprised that they'd only lasted about 9k miles - he reckoned that the first set usually achieve around 12k miles - so I'll be getting the alignment checked before I clock up too many miles.

Re your 981 Cayman launch comment - I think that you've answered your own question with your today's post. As we've anticipated, there's not long to wait now but, as usual, I expect that a few pics will be leaked a few days before the event.

Jeff,
When I had my rears replaced the alignment guy at the tyre place said the wear was even enough so no need for alignment check.
How was the handling on the track?
Yes, strange that after many months of waiting for some 981 launch details they finally announce it the day after my comment.

The track day was really great Chris and the car handled a treat.

It was a novice driver experience day - rather than an outright track day - at Blyton Park, Lincolnshire, organised directly by R4. Three half hour sessions with an instructor on board all the time and a maximum of four cars on the track at any time.....and all for £70. A real bargain and my sort of circuit: only 1.6 miles long, so not very fast, but featuring plenty of twisty bits. No tyre squeal but I had the brakes singing quite nicely.!

The instructor hadn't been in a Cayman before (and mine was the only one present on the day) but was very impressed with the grip and balance of the car even in my inexperienced hands.

Hi all,

I'm Dan and have just (5wks ago) purchased my first ever Porsche and getting used to it and loving it more and more as the miles pile on.

It's having to go in to Sytner Solihull next week to have the a rattly front suspension looked at which started last week whilst on holiday in Cornwall last week.

Anyway - enough waffle.

I must say the amount of chat on here is quite low compared to the previous forum I attended.

Dan.
