Well, the whole service from start to finish was excellent. Took him just 2 hours and its a very neat job. Hubbards of Loughborough they are called. He doesnt mind if you hang around, although a 15 minute walk took us to the town centre.

Had my 02 Boxter plastic soft top window replaced @ Hubbards of Loughborough a couple of weeks ago. Very pleasant experience Gary is very knowledgeable about Boxter hoods and even gives the hood mechanism a minor service whilst he has it all apart, greasing some of the mechanism and making sure it all works as it should. The end result is excellent and i am very pleased with what he did.  He also recovers Porsche seats as well, very knowledgeable about all the different leathers etc. I would recommend this company to anyone. The cost was £215.

Wish I'd known about him last year...took mine to amother south manchester specialist, they had the car 5 weeks, giving every excuse apart from space aliens abducted the mechanic , left it out in the rain with the roof in service position and it came back sodden wet with a flooded ECU. £1000 for the roof and £1200 for new ECU , keys and other electrical work.Porsche Wilmslow came to the rescue got me mobile for a very reasonable cost.

I think the article in"Porsche Post" of July 2017 says it all. Complete replacement of Boxster hood with heated glass rear window for 650 pounds by Car Hood Warehouse seems excellent value. I have actually seen the finished product and it looks great.

We had our plastic rear screen replaced by an upholstery company in Peterborough, he had the car for the day, and it cost £240.  Correct plastic used, lovely job, very pleased with the finish.

I recently had a new plastic rear screen fitted by Jason Matthews at Trimtech, 2 Enterprise Court, Sandbach, CW11 3SB, 01270 757573 or 07595 472260. It took Jason two hours and the quality of the screen is better than original and his workmanship has to be seen to be believed, it’s fantastic.
The total cost was £225 in November 2017.
Jason has a purpose built workshop not a back street here today gone tomorrow place if you know what I mean.
I have no connection with Trimtech but would recommend him.
Happy New Year.

If you look back onto page 8 of this thread you will see a post from me about a company called Hubbards in Loughborough, who did my hood window, can thoroughly recommend him, not too far from you as well.

Sorry I wasn't referring to your post. I thought by clicking reply on the post in question it would actually refer to that post. apparently not. Should've just used quote instead.

Could you let us know what company you used please? I need to replace my rear screen and Peterborough is close to where I live.

Thanks

Folks,

986 Boxster S window split back in 2014

Replaced by Porsche Brooklands at some cost which I can't remember but could look up in the file if of interest.

From memory the options were - replace with new hood (£4K??), replace with aftermarket hood (not for me thanks) or repair as above. Advised as mentioned in this thread that replacement with glass is total new hood but not recommended as glass version is not the same as plastic hood and is major headache to retro-fit.

Most people not even aware it has been changed so pretty impressive job. The material they used appears a little more flexible than the original even when cold. The major advantage on completion was the ability to see out once more!
