N rated tyres

Has anyone any experience of using non N rated tyres? My 991.1 has Goodyears on and I would like a change to Michelin or Pirelli, neither of which make a summer N rated tyre for my rears (285/35 ZR19 103Y) . I have no warranty to consider and would change all four to the same make.

Are you sure that your rear size is right? My 991.1 C2S was supplied new with and runs on 295/30ZR20. In answer to your question I changed from the supplied Pirelli P Zero to Michelin Pilot Sport Cup and feel they are a better ride and last longer. I am aware I am in the minority ????

It had these tyres on when I purchased in 2 years ago, when I do a tyre search the 285s and the 295s come up. Maybe the 295s are an option. Thanks for the info.

You have tyre sizes quoted on the inside of the drivers door with the pressures.

The car will have a correct N rated option available. The N specification relates to the construction which is optimised for the car. The same size tyre with different ratings (like for Audi or Ferrari) is not the same construction so behaves differently.

The general concensus is that the best allround tyre on a 991 is a Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I changed from the stock P Zeros to Cup 2’s. The ride improved, the cabin noise reduced and the steering became vastly superior. P Zeros are a poor tyre IMHO. Downside to Cup 2’s. On motorway runs, 0my MPG dropped 4 MPG. Cup 2’s pick up all sorts of road trash. I have had 3 rear punctures since September.
