Hi all

thank you in advance for any feedback

just started looking into service costs for 991.2 4 gts which still has a number of years of warranty to run

and the first OPC has quoted i have to say a surprisingly large number! £2788.52 full break down attached. I expected a larger number than other cars but as my first porsche service this seems excessive, those spark plugs need to be good plated!!! - is this "normal”

roughly
service £747.62 drive belt and other additional items £1272.53 Maybe Spark plugs £570.37 £186 brake fluid[/LIST]

I assume plugs and brake fluid include fitting. Plugs are around £20 each inc VAT before any discount and I expect access is a pain with standard hours. Brake fluid, like engine oil is sold to OPCs at high prices hence I always supply engine oil (from Opie) but don't bother with brake fluid.

Getting at least 10% PCGB discount will take that down to £2500 which is £1250/ year. The next service in 2 years time will be an intermediate so will cost much less. Over 4 years it might average out at below £1000/ year. Seems reasonable for a high performance car. ????? (Obviously one has to budget for the additional cost of consumables like brake discs and pads and tyres)

I don't quite understand what has happened here. The 6 year service should be a minor one. Spark plugs should have been changed at 4 years as part of a major service. I suspect a large element of the cost of the Additional Maintenance is for the PDCC reservoir and fitting etc.
The 6 year service on my 991.2 GTS is due in the spring so I am very interested to see how this plays out and what other OPCs may quote!

...Agree as above

It never ceases to amaze me how many new Porsche owners seem surprised by the running costs.
Surely this would be something you would look into when you were considering buying new, or even otherwise on ANY car [8|]

Don’t panic, it sounds like you may be able to afford it ..........(even at inflated Porsche centre prices)

Thank you and yes obviously i did look and talked to other owners at the time etc. i went on the £1000/year plus inflation budget. I think my mistake was not understanding these additional items that all other marque main dealers would include in the major/minor services cost rather than as "additional items” when in fact they are a core part of the service

Thanks very helpful and yes i had worked on that basis. The description of minor service is somewhat misleading for yr 6 when in fact its one of the biggest it seems!
