How much money do you have or want to spend is the main question? Typically looked at and suggested by OPC or indies;
- Clutch/Flywheel condition (upgrade options too)
- Thoroughly trace any obvious oil leaks and fix (seals, gaskets etc)
- Cam chain covers (often a slow leak - not critical, but engine's out, so..)
- Any steering pump seal leaking
- Valve cover seals/gaskets
- Engine tinware and heat shielding (I had all tinware blasted then powder coated - loads cheaper than brand new)
- Heat exchanger condition (especially the flange connection to the exhaust/catalyst pipe)

Maybe think about fuel injector servicing and recalibrating (again, how much money?). Others might chip in too..

point of note being that not all these items can only be done with engine out. Three ways t look at this; some items only done if engine out (gearbox/clutch/tinware, some heatshields, cam chains etc), other items are easier to access or asses with engine out (e.g. fuel lines, valves, valve covers etc) and the rest can be done with engine in but small hands ideal. Hope that hgelps..
