Replacing Caliper Bleed Nipples

According to my local OPC the bleed nipples on my brake callipers on my 991 C2S are apparently corroded to the point that the nipples need replacing. Has anyone suffered such an issue? They have quoted around £600 unless they come across irreplaceable nipples in which case they would in each case replace the affected calliper which sounds very expensive!

Sounds like a bit of work farming to me.
The only time a bleed nipple really needs replacing is when it becomes damaged by stone impact etc, alternatively it may become seized in the calliper and cannot be undone.
Either way, brake nipples are inexpensive items, easily replaced for just a few pounds- even a seized calliper nipple can easily be repaired by any good workshop without the need to replace the calliper.

Clive

I guess much depends upon whether you can remove and replace the calipers yourself and send them off or hand them in.... There are folks who specialise in brake caliper reconditioning and/or can just be tasked to remove sezied nipples with minimum damage to the paintwork on the caliper. Circa £30+vat for each nipple removal. Likely to supply new nipples if asked for a cost..?
New securing bolts should be used any time a caliper is removed and replaced. I suspect calipers can be circa £500-700 for reds, the front being larger and the more expensive of the two.

Thank you both. Fingers crossed they will come out easily next week. Allowing them plenty of time for the penetrating oil to work!
