Fuel Availability on NC500

We are planning on driving the NC500 and understand that there are not many fuel stations around. Can anyone recommend an app that finds fuel stations whilst we are at home for route planning as well as one that works in your vicinity once en route? Thanks.

Each Fuel company has their own unfortunately, eg Shell, Esso, BP etc.

A far as NC 500 goes 20 minutes on the internet before you go will find all the petrol stations. Mark them on your Road Atlas. Old technology but works.

as far as the remote section of the NC500 is concerned, from memory there is Jet / Gleaner in Ullapool, Gleaner in Thurso which have E5 97. As long as you fuel up at these two you will have no trouble. There are several stations with super closer to Inverness.

You should be able to find the location of filling stations on your PCM and smartphone via their navigation aps.
Regards,

Clive

Thank you both. Just Ullapool and Thurso! irritating if you live in somewhere like Durness…..makes more sense for EVs.

I done the NC500 in a motorhome in June, west to east travelling up from the lakes.
Never had a problem finding fuel & travelled 1715 miles from home.
Considering the route is circa 500 miles I shouldn't think you'll need to fill up more than once in the extreme North.
There is a fuel stop at Kinlochewe, Dunnets Bay & Brora to add to AndrewCS map above....
I'd be more concerned about the road surfaces, they are horrendous, so tyre pressures may well need to be adjusted to soften your ride!!
Enjoy, the views are amazing.

don’t go in summer or on bank holidays. too many camper vans. I’ve been round it twice. Years ago it was empty. Now it’s not- sadly.

We just got back from a trip that included the NC500. These are the filing stations that I stopped at for premium unleaded:

Tesco, Perth (we took a scenic route via the Cairngorms)
Esso Kessock, Inverness (there are several in Inverness)
Gleaner Bridgend, Thurso
Jet, Ullapool
Gulf, Kyle of Lochalsh

Awesome trip, seemed to be a good time to go based on the little traffic we encountered.

Thanks. We are looking forward to our trip in September which will hopefully be quieter too! We are then doing a weekend on the Isle of Man on the way home!

we are going a couple of weeks later. That should be very good though. Have you been to the IOM before?
