991.1 cab roof tear. Any repairer guidance please

Hi all. A friend has a very early 991.1 cab. Low miles and well stored, but frequent roof use has lead to a minor tear/seam break on one of the panel joins. PCGB suggest new roof, several thousand pounds!. She’s looking for a more sensible route to repair. I’ve had a google and suggested a few options, but wondered if there was any proven route out there, or anyone with a similar issue? Oxon based but irrelevant for correct service. Thanks

If the split is along a seam, you may be able to get it repaired at an upholsterer or sail maker (I’ve previously used a sailmaker for similar work with success).
If the split is in a panel, the best you can do is either to patch on the back or to replace the whole panel, unfortunately.
Hope this helps,
