Hi all

I have a 991.2 and I would like to change the Vodafone Porsche Car Connect tracker (required by my insurance) to have an app, rather than the stupid plastic thing that bulks out my wallet. (Middle-class problem, I know...)

Has anyone done this? The dealer says 'no'.

Many thanks

David

It is highly likely your dealer is correct.

Why not ask Vodafonetelematics at 01282473732?

Regards,

Clive

Thanks for the number and no you cannot. The Key Fob is a Porsche product, then they cancelled my subscription in a misunderstanding. Leave it alone is my advice!

The PVTS automatic theft monitoring relies on the Driver Card being present in the car or not so that if the Driver Card is not present and the car is moved this is detected by PVTS and it sends an alert to Vodafone Automotive. It requires a movement of about 100 metres as I have experienced before the alert is triggered.
Two solutions:
1. Leave the Driver Card permanently in the car, the tracker function will still operate but it requires you to notify Vodafone Automotive that the car has been stolen.
2. Get an alternative system fitted that does not rely on a Driver Card being present to detect an unauthorised movement, I would assume a system like this requires a code to be entered to arm or disarm the system.
