PCM Software Update for satellite map view

I have just received a letter from Porsche GB asking me to book my 991.2 Targa GTS in so that a software update can be performed on the PCM in order to restore the ability to use the satellite map view within the navigation function, brought about apparently by a change in the interface involved.

I have to say that I had not noticed this as I do not use this very often, but was wondering whether anyone else had received the same letter and if so whether the update when carried out went smoothly.

Cheers,
Keith

Yep, got my letter today. I
hadn‘t noticed anything either. I use Apple Carplay mostly anyway. I don’t really understand the interface thing, frankly.

I got the letter this morning, booked in for next week

Thanks. I have also booked mine in for the upgrade to be done in early June, so it would be good to hear how yours goes, Ralph.

I too had the letter last Saturday. It states an hour will be needed so and can be done whilst waiting. So I rang Porsche Hatfield who said they needed the car for 2 days but as no lone cars are available the earliest it could be done would be September. I subsequently phoned Porsche Brooklands who are doing the update this Thursday whilst I wait. Chris

Hi did they say why they required the car for 2 days? I to have received a letter and got mine booked in for next week.

I had a letter from porsche on Monday and booked my car in to Porsche chester who said it could be done while I wait apparently it only takes about 2 hours

There was no reason given. I expressed my surprise, given the letter, but it would appear it's easier to have a car for a lengthy period to ease their workshop schedule. Not really very customer friendly! Anyway I'm off to Brooklands today.

Good Luck Today - Be interested to know how you got on Chris. Wonder if any parts are fitted or just a software update - I Don't really understand what is not working properly with the Sat Nav system as I can't see any real difference really.
Cheers

Hi, received a letter from PGB last weekend. 718 (2018) booked in for 9th June. OPC Preston assured me satnav will still work pending software update.

All went very well. I arrived at Porsche Brooklands for 14:00 and left by 15:00. No parts just software which is required for a better online interface between PCM and Google. Only other thing I've found it's now possible to delete an individual recent destination rather than the whole lot.

Presumably you have to subscribe to Porsche Connect for this to work?

I don't subscribe but still had the letter to book my car in for the update. Not sure if it will make / what the difference will be....

Hi. Did this update resolve the over the air map updates? My dealer is still struggling to get this to work even though the other Porsche connect apps like traffic, weather etc all work fine.
thanks

This update has broken my ability to update over the air and i am told porsche have no fix at this time.

on a separate issue has anyone manage to update more than three regions?

I used a guy who does map updates and other remote coding. I have the PCM4.0. let me know if you want his details
