Update 4 June 2021: - I have now booked restaurants both within walking distance from the hotel:

Friday 17 September @ 7:30pm the India Gate, Dunblane https://mrsinghsdunblane.co.uk/ - private dining room

Saturday 18 September @ 7:30pm the Allanview, Dunblane https://www.allanview.com/ - the whole restaurant

We have currently held tables for all who requested dinner, but will require a deposit of £6 per person to confirm these bookings, we will email the payment details from the R3 email account shortly and give at least 7 days to pay - please ensure to pay on time to reserve your dinner as we will not be able to hold bookings without a deposit beyond the last payment date.

At last night's R3 Monthly Meeting we discussed plans for our 2021 WOTY and agreed that due to accommodation availability we would change our published plans for a WOTY from Wales to Scotland, where we have found plentiful accommodation.

Dunblane is in the heart of Scotland on the edge of the Trossachs with wonderful roads, lochs and mountains for our enjoyment. We will be staying at the Dunblane Hydro (DoubleTree), one of the original Scottish Victorian Hydro Spa hotels, which underwent a multi million pound refurbishment in recent years. It sits in its own extensive grounds with ample hotel parking, more hotel information is available from this link. We have booked from Friday 17 September departing Sunday 19 September, on a flexible B&B basis (in case Covid catches us out!), and there are currently multiple rooms available. You may choose to stay at other accommodation, there is plenty in the Stirling area. To facilitate this, we plan to meet in the hotel carpark after breakfast before departing for our daily activity. We will also book restaurants in the evening away from the hotel so that we can gather together regardless of your accommodation. Please note that accommodation booking is your responsibility, we will not be arranging group bookings or holding rooms. This is primarily because hotels are currently reluctant to hold hotel rooms as they expect to be busy with fewer foreign holidays this year.

In order to plan restaurants, and events, we are asking you to register for the WOTY ONLY ONCE YOU HAVE BOOKED YOUR ACCOMMODATION. Also, if you wish to have a dinner reservation made (Covid restrictions permitting), you will need to register by 31 May to give sufficient lead time to secure bookings. Please use this link to register, or the attached QR code.

More details will follow regarding departure, driving routes, activities and restaurant choices - however, we wanted to get this out as soon as possible to allow hotel booking for those who wish to join us.

Best regards - Philip & Jacquie

Hi all,

Registered and Hydro hotel booked. Looking forward to a great weekend.

Fingers crossed the Scottish weather will be kind!

(That QR crossword puzzle is rather tough, there aren't even any clues to which letters go where! [:D])

Now this is interesting as I collect points for that chain so apart from fuel & food this could be a free WOTY for me…only reservation is the wife isn't a petrol head and even the idea off being left in a spa wasn’t selling the idea! I‘m going to book the rooms but is this going to be a couples thing as I feel I may end up feeling like a gooseberry if I fail to convince her?

There are usually some singles that come along.... but its never really a couples thing anyway - just a group of friends having fun :)

Would you consider the local R1 team joining you for the run outs and possible evening meal ?

Thanks for your enquiry, however due to the uncertainly over restrictions and numbers we are not opening it up to others outside of R3 at the moment.
