The new Region 5 Regional Organiser (RO), Matt Staines and his organising committee are hard at work preparing and making plans for meetings, events, activities and drives in readiness for the release of the latest lockdown rules.
Given this, Matt and the team are keen to reach out to more members than ever before by arranging a wide variety of future meetings and events that appeal to as many members as possible. We are equally keen to engage with both new and existing members.
To help us achieve these aims we thought that now would be a good time for a reminder of how R5 members can keep in touch with what is going on in our region and communicate with each other. With this in mind, we wanted to remind our members that in addition to the forum, we also have a dedicated R5 community group on Facebook.
This group was set up to keep members updated and advised of what is going on in our region and as a community for members to share informal posts and photos of what they have been up to, ask questions, and keep in touch with other members. Our group is a closed group that is only open to paid up PCGB members who have an interest in R5, North West England, regardless of your home region.
We will of course continue to share information about any forthcoming Region 5 events or business via the club email system, website, and Porsche Post. However, both the forum and our Facebook group do provide members with a better opportunity to interact and engage with each other by sharing views and ideas.
Our R5 Facebook Group can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PCGB.R5/
The security settings for the group are set so that only people who are in the group, can see who else is in the group. This is to protect our members privacy and security.
For this reason, when you click to join the group, you will be asked a number of set questions as follows:
1. Are you a bone a fide paid up member of Porsche Club GB? If you are not already a member of PCGB, you will be invited to join and provided with a link to the membership section of the club website. www.porscheclubgb.com/membership/join/renew
2. Please provide your Membership number - so we can ensure everyone in the group is indeed eligible to join the group.
3. Do you agree to the Porsche Club GB code of conduct? www.porscheclubgb.com/about/club-busines/code-of-conduct
If you do not answer the set questions, we will not be able to include you in the group.
You will need a Facebook account to join - if you don't already have one, they are easy to set up. Please do be careful when considering what personal details you want to add, such as workplace, where you live, etc. It's often better to keep this to a minimum. It's best to take the policy of not sharing anything about yourself that you wouldn't want to be in the public domain, regardless of privacy settings. However, anything that you post in the R5 group will only visible to other members and not the general public.
Please remember that just like anything else on the internet, what you post is instantly recorded and retrievable. Our Administrators will delete any content that shows illegal or reckless activity - e.g. speeding. Please also note that although our group is private, the police and other authorities have the right to request access to it. Please. don't share anything you wouldn't want to be attributed to you, even though it's kept within the group.
If you have any questions regarding any of the above, please feel free to contact me at: martinghdavis@outlook.com or Matt Staines at: r5@porscheclubgb.com
We look forward to seeing you and your fabulous Porsche’s soon.
