Hi I am new member and am looking at buying my first Porsche 911. With test driving now not available at Porsche garages I would welcome feedback on member's experience / recommendation on 911.991 C4S v 911.991.2 C4S .
I am especially interested in reliability of cars and also is it really necessary to have all wheel drive or can the CS2 drive safely in the snow with snow tyres - This would be my daily drive car so is important.

Best Regards
Ted

I drive my C2S all year with winter tyres no problem
I imagine the 4S would be better but with care the rear wheel drive is fine .

Hello Ted,

I went through the whole 4wd vs 2wd dilemma when I bought my 991.2 in 2017. Long story, short — 2wd will do just fine. Longer story how I reached that conclusion here in this forum post.

Went snowboarding in Northumberland last year ?? Took the 911. On snow tyres. At the top of the single track country lane where I eventually parked, I had a chat with a family who I'd passed walking up the road. They were somewhat amazed that the 911 had got up there (easily, I might add) and confessed that they'd abandoned their 4wd pickup truck part way up! It was on regular tyres.

I ordered a 4S for the visual impact in having wider rear wheel arch’s & the rear LED strip across the rear, the 4 wheel drive capability was a bonus ??
As members have already mentioned having winter tyres totally transforms a car more so than having 4 wheel drive in the winter and when driving on ice and snow conditions.
