My 991 Turbo S

I cannot stop my heater or radio automatically coming on each time I start my vehicle? I have looked through the owners hand book, and sought assistance from Porsche Cardiff all to no avail. There MUST be a way of preventing the heater and or the radio from starting every time you start the car up? Any help gratefully received.

You should be able to switch the radio off by depressing the left volume control.
By heater, I guess you're referring to the aircon fan. Again just switch the aircon off.

Then scrolling through your PCM menus, find and untick the box that says "Save Settings on Exit" or something similar. (I can't remember it exactly!) You can tick it again afterwards to save the "off" settings if you wish but you may also need to alter the ignition key memory settings too. [;)]

Clive,
thanks for the response. I am aware of the LH/volume "off” button on the radio. However, briefly pressing it only "mutes” the radio, whilst a longer press turns the whole screen (PCM) off.
With the heater, it seems to have a mind of its own! I have done as you suggested, but when you start the car, the heater comes back on?

It's been a while since I had my Turbo S, maybe someone who still has one will be along in a while to enlighten us.

I guess if you want the screen on but the radio off, you mute it. I recall you can have the radio on, but the screen off by choosing an option in the main PCM menu - it's a bit of a faff - but I'm unsure how you can do it the other way around.

I assume you are familiar with how to switch the save on exit settings on/off from the smaller menu screen on the right.
Regards,

Clive

Hi. You are stuck with it. It is a very annoying quirk.

The only way you can do it is by saving your settings on leaving the vehicle. However when you get back in it will always turn the aircon back on. On the 991.1 you could get the exit settings saved..on the 991.2 they had removed this option. It is truly annoying on a hot day to leave the vehicle and get back in for all the settings to have reset. Drives me crazy.

Alan, As you have discovered the PCM Audio always turns on but if you set the audio source to "Aux” although the PCM Audio will come on there will be no sound unless you have an MP3 player or similar connected. You will still receive Traffic Info broadcasts but you can turn that off in the Tuner Settings menu.
