944 Turbo 2.75” Downpipe

Hi guys, I recently took delivery of a 2.75” Turbo Downpipe for a friends 3l project build and dropped it off with the exhaust guy I use to make one for me. He called today to check a few details before going ahead jigging it up and ordering the right parts, pricing is TBC but expected to be around £150-ish.

If anyone wants one then send me a PM and I’ll give you the contact details for the company and you can get in touch directly. That way I’m not involved in trying to co-ordinate any type of group buy or being accused of profiting in any way.

If anyone wants a full 3” Turbo exhaust with wastegate tie-in or S2 exhaust then he has the jigs to make those and they’re very reasonably priced along with a lifetime warranty. Bought mine 5 years ago and it cracked at the join with the wastegate tie-in due to my engine mounts having failed. I explained this and it was still repaired FOC. Price was £550 fitted or posted when I had mine done but no idea now.
 
This is probably half the price of the Fabspeed version. Though I did chop a standard discharge pipe in half, and gutted it was around 2.6" internal bore. A true 3" discharge pipe is possible using cap head fixing bolts I think.
 
No idea, I bought the entire 3 inch exhaust system of a guy who I think had it made in Singapore, or was that Hong King?... it has a magnaflow tail box, all custom made including the turbo downpipe.
 
Haha...no way could I get calipers around it, I can barely see it with little space around it
 
Checked the spare I've got and it's around 2.75" OD. I can see the pipe/turbo on the car, and I'd say with a true 3" pipe a ratchet ring spanner wouldn't fit over the mounting nuts.
 
God knows how you can see the pipe.. to be fair it's such a long time since my car has been standard in the 'turbo' department that I can't remember how much room there was before. I can't even see the pipe in full, can barely see the section as it drops.. tried to take a picture with the flash.. you can just see the rear of the pipe which is nearly touching the heat shield, in fact, IIRC we can to tweak it back and in a little for clearance. The out of focus blur to the left is the back of the inlet manifold.

I could definitely see 2 of the studs/nuts where it bolts to the turbo. I was using a bright light though, and you're right about not getting calipers on to measure it. I've said it before, but I reckon only the first half of the exhaust needs to be 3". The exhaust gas is cooling and contracting by then.
 
Not so sure about that...see how things change when my twin pipe is opened up to a single oval...just another one of those many jobs on the list
 
I fitted the back half of Rick Cannells old exhaust on my car, pretty much straight through. Sounded like a tractor, and was slower under 4k revs. Made some baffles for the twin silencers, and it sounded and pulled better. Pretty much the same thing happened when I fitted a huge exhaust on my Cosworth. Straight through exhausts are for track cars.
 
well to be fair if you saw my twin tailpipe, I think that you'd agree that it's blocking off the flow of the gases, it's a poor design which is surprising considering how good the rest of it is. It's more or less as if the twin-pipe was an afterthought? My son says that he can hear/feel it restricting the flow at WOT, I have learnt to trust him fully over the years.
 
Ah...I get you now...how strange...it's the same for Paul's post, just before mine..
