Car off road due to Coronavirus - storage tips?

Hi all,
Due to the travel restrictions over Coronavirus, I don’t intend to use my 987.2 Boxster until this situation is over, when ever that may be.
My car sits in a car port, which is only open at the front, and I keep it on a CTEK battery conditioner. It is ceramic coated and I have cleaned it thoroughly before putting it away.
Is there anything else I can do or should be doing to avoid any problems with it when this is all over?
Many thanks all for any advice
Steve

If you putting the car away for a long period contact your insurance company and ask to put the car on LAID UP cover.
this may save you a few Bob.

Start it up once a month and warm up to operating temperature.. As it's partially open to the environment you may need to drive it briefly to clear surface rust of brakes as 3 months worth ca be pretty severe.

Differing stories. have been told to not start it up weekly or monthly but go out and drive it on a longish journey ...a bit difficult if like many the car is sorn so you have no RT and doubt many will tax it for a 50 mile journey .Insurance... was told you cannot get laid up insurance or third party fire and theft if your car is over £5K in value so that's most owner out certainly my provider Aviva do not offer this . .Tyre pressure ...I always put in 60psi and every 2 months or so jack the car up chalk mark the position spin the wheels to free off any dust re mark that way you eliminate flat spots ,don't fancy using 4 axle stand . Battery conditioners are on 3 cars I have in garage 1 CTEK 2 LIDL ...both do the same job have used for 8 years ,if long term place an open packet of salt in car it will draw any dampness out. .There you go and all for free ...sadly I think a lot will be off the road for the time being.

If you're unable to drive the car then as Gordon suggests, warming-up to operating temperature won't do the engine any harm. The main problem is that the engine probably will take longer to reach operating temperature because it's not under load, so the cats won't reach operating temperature as quickly and impacting emissions.

Other problems are that the transmission won't get warm when you're in neutral, unless you want to jack-up the rear wheels and run through the gears - definitely not advisable in the garage.! - and of course tyres, wheel bearings and brakes don't get a work-out either.

I think that some of the more specialised insurance brokers offer laid-up insurance. I use ClassicLine and I'm sure that they do ... time to check, I think.
