car covers

Hi Chris,

If you have a power source nearby I strongly recommend a carcoon. They're not cheap but keep the car in great shape and because the cover is inflated it has no direct contact with the car. I've used one for the past three years for the winter and have been really pleased with it. Running costs are minimal too.

Regards

Gerry

I would appreciate members experience of outdoor car covers. I can only leave my 991T parked in the garden adjacent
to large trees. Since the car is not always in use I am considering a light
cotton cover purely to keep leaves and related matter out off the car.
However I am not keen on car covers in general since the risk of paint marking/scratches is a problem in the view of my local detailed.

Wow Gerry is this an outdoor Carcoon then ?

They are great, but I didn't know you could get them for anything other than indoor use.

Sounds great !

Hi James,

Yes, they do an outdoor one as well as an indoor one.

The outdoor one is dual skin and inflates using two fans. They also filter out dust and keep moisture at bay. I've been really pleased with mine. I usually give the car a good clean and polish in October and put it away for the winter. When I unzip it in April/May it's clean as a whistle. The outdoor carcoon also has a built in intelligent trickle charger so the car starts first time after its winter hibernation.

There is nothing more rewarding than sitting indoors on a cold wet frosty winters night knowing that your car is bone dry and under cover. Gives you a warm contented feeling, worth every penny.

Regards

Gerry

Interesting Gerry.

Now how am I going to smuggle one of them home without the mrs noticing :ROFLMAO:.....

I hardly used the Boxster between October and April.

I think once was to OPC for a service in Feb, then MOT in April.

Carcoon would be great - I've got a garage but only a single which would make things tight.

The Meaco dehumidifier does a good job of keeping condensation at bay at the moment.
