You'll need to read/ask around and make your own mind up about that...

Peter,

I think any non Porsche-approved item will invalidate your warranty. You'd probably get away with fitting it provided you didn't have to visit a Dealership, but would you want to remove and refit it for every service just in case? And what would happen if the car failed on-road and had to be transported to a Dealer for rectification without you having the opportunity to remove the mod?

Thanks Jeff
Once the revs are higher after running in I am sure it will sound more exciting 😁

Yes indeed, Jeff.

You need to accept that the sound is quieter and different to previous flat sixes in the Cayster platform.  Once you do that, and assess the sound on its own merits, it's pretty good.  There's a definite bonus to it being quieter if you're a track day goer, and the overall tone has a hint of GT2RS about it.  No bad thing!

Hi All,
I was on the Porsche Club track day at Brands last season in my GTS and the two very nice lads in their GT4s got kicked off after a couple of laps for the whole day!

I collected my GT4 in March and for the reason given above will not be doing the do to the exhaust even though I would like to.

981 or 718 GT4s?  The 981s are quite a lot louder, as are all 981 models.

They were 981s my point is I wouldn't want to make mine that loud or I would be worried about being kicked off track on future trackdays.

It's a good sounding car, just different and quieter as I said previously.  I don't have a problem with the sound, although my previous 981 GTS was subjectively 'better' sounding.  However, I'm finding noisy cars are less socially acceptable these days.

Mind you, I'm not entirely sure a be-winged yellow GT4 is blending into the background of society all that well.  However, it does seem to illicit huge grins from people!

Is there likely to be a GT4 type register within the club ?

I suspect not, but with the Cayman and Modified forums there is plenty of scope for GT4 specific content.  What about a 'My new GT4' thread where those who have been fortunate to get their new cars can tell us a little about their collection and ownership experiences.

In PP if anyone can provide model specific copy about themselves, their cars etc. I can make sure the model is clearly shown.  We are always looking for a good story.

I took mine out at Snetterton it really is an amazing car.
But not really much in it in a straight line with a 718 GTS 4 pot.
