Haha...I remember days like that...we all had mopeds...most had Fizzies (FS1E)...some had suzuki's but yes you guessed it I had the fastest...a Puch GPS...looked the dogs b******s..lovely cafe racer in JPS colours...was 5mph faster than the others...everyone wanted a go on mine....blade7 said:This ^^^ reminds me of when I was 16 ( I must have a fantastic memory) and all the kids reckoned they had the fastest Fizzy/Garelli moped.
Best of all was this was the summer of '76'...what a great time to be free on a moped, long before they restricted them to 30 mph....fizzie could hit 45, and the GPS 50....oh the memories.....Pete

I was riding a Bantam over the fields until I was 17, then I got a Suzuki TS100 and whupped all the ped boys into submission LOL. When my mate let me have a go on his 250 Hustler I had to have a 250.

Me too...as soon as I hit 17 it was 250 time, for me this meant the RD250...I loved that bike....my girlfriend went out with me because of the moped, we covered many miles on that little bike once I had the RD, we travelled further afield, all the way up to Northfolk on one ride...it's now 43 years since I bought the GPS and gained a girlfriend, that same beautiful girl will have been my wife for 39 years this July...,

Very similar here Pete the mrs of 37 years was stunned into submission by my RD400 then the Honda 750 FN
so in 1979 I was a Star Rider instructor on a RD400 that the front wheel flatly refused to stay on the floor, not a good role model really, I would love another RD but I think kilo for kilo Saffron is cheaper,
and my Fizzy was as the fastest lol

Haha....the RD's are worth money these days...there's a 250 on autotrader with a price tag of nearly £5k, that's 5 times what I paid in 1977 when brand new....bikes were fun back then....I wouldn't ride one today...far too dangerous and I'm too old to heal broken bones properly...I'll stick to 4 wheels now until the zimmer frame takes over...

I know the feeling Martin! I’m 38 and Just had our third child a boy this time, and I can’t handle the screeming anymore but I used to be able to.
and when I play with the kids on the floor then try to get up and my knees feel like there going to give way with pain I think to myself what’s going on here then! ??
other than things like like that I still feel 18 ??

Well sorry to top you all but I'm 77 just -my first auto cycle which I tried to persuade my parents to let me buy for -free- was a New Hudson -which I rode home from a summer job horticultural nursery with Eccles Parks Dept through the back streets when I was 15yrs old.
Answer -No!- but went on to eventually get an early Kieft scooter with no suspension-the twin port Villiers 125cc 2 stroke exhausted through the frame & it had 3 gears with handchange behind the rider which you had to "feel in".
In between ,my cousin & I used to ride a 350cc Triumph sidevalve with girder forks,fixed rear suspension & a tuned exhaust (lads speak for replacing exhaust system with a length of copper sink outlet pipe) & go mudplugging on the local common.
Then an early Vespa with the headlamp on the front apron followed by another much later Kieft scooter with the Sachs 200cc Dynostart engine-good for 75 MPH (parents still wouldn't let me have a proper bike).
My girlfriend (now my beautiful wife of 55yrs) unfortunately always lent the wrong way through corners & eventually changed to 1st car,Austin A30 with twin SU's,Peco go-kart exhaust,etc .
As to knees,i've just had our Grandsons,7 & 10 with us for 5 days-almost continual football on Formby HockeyClub allweather pitch which we can access behind our house(& where I played until 4 yrs ago)-my daily 1000mg codliver oil capsule certainly helps with the activity!

Once built oil change a gallon of fuel number plates and a road test.
My favourites of the time,

Z1000 Kawasaki

Then the fabulous Yamaha YPVS RD350
Horrid job but someone had to do it,
