I was keen to attend one of these as they are literally on my door step. Have you seen the foot note that requires public insurance for £5m?

Hadn't looked that closely as I probably wont go to either. I will have a look at my 3rd party cover later to see how much it covers me for. Never seen this requirement before at other car shows - Powderham etc.?

Not something I've ever come across but it does state that proof may be asked for and I'm reasonably sure its not something standard car insurance would have. I've registered the car for Wadebridge and it wasnt required there either.

We all carry 3rd party cover and probably in excess of £5m for authorised drivers. The question is whether traversing the site and sitting in a static display is an insured use and maybe policy documents cover the this or its a question to insurer.

Could be a very small car show if it isn't! I will give my insurer a call tomorrow out of curiosity.

And is static display any different to public car park? If you didn't secure the handbrake in the public car park and car rolled into someone who then required hospital treatment (and trauma and life long fear of cars, obviously) would your road policy cover this?

So many questions...

I've seen this insurance requirement before but it was mainly for steam traction engines which were moved around the site as display machines.
I've never seen it required for static car displays.
I certainly wouldn't be asking my cars insurer the question as I think that would raise more questions in return!!

We have checked and it's not an issue as our normal car insurance has the requisite amount of cover. The issue with the static car display is that they have to move on and off the showground. Powderham, which we attend every year, also states owners must have 3rd party cover.

I thought the club had a blanket policy for official regional events, they certainly did a couple of years ago when we went to a council run country house.

Possibly so, Stuart, but these are events run by other organisations which our members will attend and not events run by R15
