I have just obtained a 991 Gen 2 C2s with 17k miles on the clock.

After my first few trips out i have noticed on a warm engine, blue smoke on start up, however not doing it every time.

Anyone else had this issue or something similar.

I have a 991 gen 1 with 19000 miles on clock not had a problem has been dealer serviced .. check engine oil

I had a similar problem early on and was told by my OPC that if the pistons stop at the wrong/right point there can be slight oil seepage which is then burnt on start up, especially if the car is not on the level. However, it is worth checking!!

Richard,

The flat-6 boxer layout means that it's quite common for oil to collect in the bores - unfavourable piston ring alignment and valve guide/seal leakage could be sources - leading to to blue smoke on start-up as it's burnt off, but this usually occurs on cold engines if the car's been standing for a while.

I wouldn't have thought that you'd have significant bore or valve guide wear at 17k miles. Compression and borescope checks would give you confidence that all is OK.

Neighbour across the road has the Targa in this model line...does exactly the same thing on start up. As doe many (most?) of ours in the PCGB!
