A new 991 owner

I'm extremely grateful to all Club members and Forum users who posted helpful advice in response to my questions when I was searching and saving the pennies for my first 911! After a lot of background research my brother and I took the plunge and jointly purchased a very lovely 991.1 PDK Carrera Coupe in classic Guards' Red just a couple of weeks ago. It's early days as yet but so far the car has more than lived up to our expectations. Although six years old, it is almost like new inside and out and has clearly been very well looked after. We are really looking forward to bringing the 991 along to as many Porsche events as we can. The Yorkshire Porsche Festival will be the 'local' show for our car, so if that event is on next summer, we will be there! I should mention that one of the things I asked about on the Forum when researching the car was insurance. I had many helpful responses and in the end I went with the recommendation of a Club member who had used the NFU Mutual. The NFU was really great from the start and had a 'nothing too much trouble' attitude which was fantastic. On a point of detail - someone is sure to know - the V5 document lists the car as a 'Carrera S-A'. Any clues as to what S-A stands for?

Thankyou Peter! Yes, the colour is great - and I'm sold on the black wheels with the thin silver band around the edge, even though I was unconvinced at the start...

I must upload some pictures and as you say, resurrect the 'brightly coloured Porsche' thread!

Kind regards, Andrew

Guards Red, what a great colour........if only I was brave enough (GT Silver Metallic).

I have just bought a 991.1 PDK in Guards Red with matt black wheels.
The S-A stands for Semi-Automatic.
Goodbye Cayman

Hope you dont mind me joining in and congrats on a fine choice!
I have also become a 1st time 911 owner, also Guards Red, and originally with Black wheels which I wasnt keen on so I have had them changed to Platinum finish which I much prefer. Its a pretty basic spec but does have the factory fitted Aerokit Cup to satisfy the boy racer in me.

EDIT: Tried adding an image - computer said 'No'!

It is a great colour, you're right, but they look fantastic in any colour! I would have been happy with silver, white, grey...the list goes on! Thankyou for your message.

Hello! And thanks for clarifying the S-A terminology. I hope you are enjoying the 991!
Regards

Hello and thankyou for your message! I'm still looking out for another Guards Red 911 on my travels - not spotted one yet! I had the option of having the black wheels re-finished in platinum and it was a tough decision either way. I stuck with the black in the end really out of a desire not to change the factory spec, but if I could have seen a computer image of what it would have looked like with the other wheels, it might have swayed me! Hope you are enjoying the first time 911 ownership as much as I am.
