Here is an idea for an R31 day out......Wyedean Forest Rally (Forest of Dean), Sat 12 November 2016.
I have been more than a few times, It’s a good event. I usually go early, watch a few stages at various sections, then head home around lunchtime via pub lunch etc. If anyone has not been to a forest rally before I am sure you would enjoy it. The event does not involve buying tickets, just a nominal parking fee which I think goes to charity, full details usually go on the website just a few days before event http://www.wyedeanrally.com/
I'm not suggesting anyone takes sporty cars due to the parking situation but vehicles with normal ground clearance etc. should be fine :ROFLMAO:

I can recommend this excellent event, which is returning to its traditional November slot after being held in February for many years. It usually starts from the huge car park opposite Chepstow Racecourse, so you can park there right next to the area where the cars assemble and are scrutineered. As well as the usual suspects of modern rallying there are many traditional and perhaps unlikely entries and the historic classes can include the odd Porsche, as seen here at the saturated 2013 event.

Website suggests the whole event will be in the forest this year, three stages run twice. I am familiar with the location of various stages but each year they vary the order and/or run from a different direction etc. As mentioned previously, full details usually go on the website just a few days before event, so hopefully we can make firm plans then.

Beautiful location, stunning action and a wonderful appreciation of speed as the 4WD cars pop, bang and spit flames. No Porsches this year but great to see some old classics in addition to the modern stuff e.g. Datsun 240Z, Talbot Sunbeam Ti, Volvo Amazon, Mini Clubman, Hillman Avenger and of course plenty of sideways action.

Looks and sounds like you had a good day out Mike. Sorry I couldn't make it.

I have to confess to having a soft spot for those old Volvo Amazons. A mate of mine used to have one. I remember it was capable of carrying up to 10 students to and from parties and music festivals.

Like it was only yesterday Brian... largely because Fiona has never forgiven me for not taking her to the first Glastonbury Fayre. [8|]

Alan, Remembering leaving that one through the "smoke" is notable.

As for Fiona not forgiving you, no doubt she is right!
