964 Carrera 2, Guards with Eibach, cup mirrors, 96k, but Cat C with bolt on panel damage only, if it had been correctly repaired and painted would it be worth 12k ?
I have asked for more pictures and paperwork to back up the claim, looks the part, but don't they all !
 
For me, Cat C means serious damage. However, if it wasn't insured properly they could have come up with a silly valuation based on book prices and therefore it would only take a few thousand in the repair estimate to make it an 'uneconomical repair'. However, my answer to the question would still be; no, I wouldn't.
 
With 96k you can get a straight one at that price. I doubt they'll get half that price for a Cat C.

 
Thanks for the replies peeps, got it wrong it is Cat D, he assures me panel damage only and is sending pics to show the damage, he also says it was repaired to a very high standard and is undetectable.

If you do come up North to take a look I have a Black '93 C2 for sale around the same money but with higher miles as an option !
 
I am up north (Cumbria) need to shift a 944 turbo to raise funds though (Genuinely Unspoilt 220) massive history with every mot from new and as good as you will get.

Completely agree, but this a cat C right?
 
Frency corrected himself, turns out its a CAT D. If it was a CAT C then it would have to be seriously cheap !
 
Yes Cat D bolt on panel damage only, i am getting pics of the damage tomorrow, did not require jigged or anything sinister (apparently)

I would also bear in mind that you may be happy with a Cat D but when you come to sell it your market will be limited. However, if the price is right and you are keeping a long time then this would mitigate any worries regarding re-sale.
 
That is the plan if right, a keeper along with my 944 Turbo S, if it turns out to be just panel damage and has been repaired and correctly i do not have an issue, i know what i am looking at, but it is six and a half hours away so i do not want to waste my time with an epic trip to look at a badly repired/painted lump of sheise ! [:mad:]
 
Sorry I missed that bit above. In the right circumstances a Cat D wouldnt worry me. Points I'd like to see.

- Pictures of the damage before repair
- pictures during repair
- a full PPI by someone who understands porsches and is aware of the damage

I guess many are repaired without photo evidence, but it would certainly help. Also as stated above be aware that your sale on market is pretty small. Conversion to a track car always a good route.

Thanks CT, that is definately the same one, looked at that when it was advertised toying with the idea of going to London, cheeky beggar has marked it up near enough 3.5k
 
Hi Jim. The chances of it not needing any other expenditure are slim so it depends on how flexible that sticker price is. I would hang fire and find a car with no on register issues even if it costs more, over the long haul it is the sensible choice.
