Worth a look

I spotted this on e bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-944-Turbo-/130707939251?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1e6eccdfb3 bargain maybe ?

Looks pretty good for the £3500 BIN price, but without seeing it you just can't tell. The "some history" is always worrying, but not that unusual and current condition/ recent history is all that really counts.

I just spotted it too so now I am well miffed !

I am well known for my love of Zermatt 944's and am currently genuinely looking for a late 944 turbo.
Had it been advertised yesterday or even this morning , I could have driven up there today and if its straight maybe bought it.

Now I will be working Wednesday and Thursday and cannot possibly get to Norfolk unless i go at night, plus the seller is on answerphone. Reading beteween the lines it has little history perhaps thats what keeps the price down ?

With the shabby wrecks I've viewed on E Bay lately I'm not keen to bid on it blind yet if anyone knew the car or had seen it I would possibly buy it TBH.

Regards Mas

Just had a word with the seller on the phone. The story is he bought it 6 years ago as a do her upper on flea Bay literally in bits. The car has no service history at all really and he did the cambelt and water pump himself.

I suspect from the described oil use the engine has some wear for a car with such low mileage ? and
'within limits' or not neither of my turbo's used anywhere near that ammount of oil.

He describes the car as straight as a die body wise but obviously with zero history it will never be worth a fortune and to be fair he clearly realises this which makes a nice change !.

Regards Mas

I can make a nosey friday myself [;)] , tbh i want to know how good or bad that resray was, bad paint would kill it for me.

Mas

And they are all bidding blind so probably the usual phantom bidder killing it for genuine folk scenario. If i cant get to view ill leave it and wait for the relist [8D]

I believe that this is a 1988 M758 Turbo S, with the colour being Rose Silver... That is to be confirmed, but I do know that the vendor was running the car on 0w- oil, which explains the 1l per 1,000 mile usage. All Turbos use oil if you drive them as they were intended, but Id expect this to drop right down with 10w- synthetic...

Possibly a very good buy for Terry.

The seller said it was Zermatt and it looks Zermatt to me , want makes you say its a
' Silver Rose' ? I'm intrigued :p

Mas

Its supposition at the moment, but so far, the M030 and the Club Sport wheels.

It does look a very good buy for Terry. A bit confused about what it is though, it has a sunroof and certainly looks zermatt and not rose silver. No horrid interior although I know this could be specced. I assume you could order a M758 with sunroof if you so wished? If so then it certainly is one if its registered 1/1/88. My guess is it's actually a year newer than the seller lists and is simply a 250 turbo. Either way well worth the money if the body is ok.

Looks Zermatt, but that doesn't mean it's not a Turbo S

Strange combination of exterior / interior colours, sunroof as well.

From reading the TIPEC thread it sounds like a good car.

Hi guy. Iv brought the car, but I'm collecting Friday. Iv viewed the car and been in it, but not behind the wheel. I believe it's a F reg so 88. I didn't think it was a sliver rose, as it has sun roof and navy interior. Could just be a 250 fully spec out from the factory.

Iv got some pictures from inside the sills, they were steam cleaned 6 years ago but not treated. Pretty clean. Very small rust. But this is mainly in the lower eage were it meets the plastic trim, everything else seemed mint.

Been garaged the last 6 winters and maybe b4 that. So that's a good 25% off it life.

The seats sport seat (electric both sides ) have no splits or rips. The clock even works.

Once collected and drove back there be much more 2 tell with pics.

I'm probley going 2 sell the private plate 4 £500 so that's a saving off £350 after transfer fees and new plates made up.

Was in a completely better condition then I was expecting 4 the money. Having looked a an 968 conversion a few weeks b4

Just 2 clear things up, if the turbo is 250 large turbo? Dose this make it a turbo S or just a 250 turbo?

we're heading into dangerous territory....

Turbo S was the first model to have the 26/8 (250) and was a limited run.
as far as I know this was produced alongside the Turbo 26/6 (220) model in 1988

Most of them were pink (Silver Rose) with a wonderful pink check interior (well I like it), some were other colours (interior and exterior) - like Chrisg's, and could be ordered with a sunroof as an option.

In 1989 the Turbo changed to the 26/8, and also had a few other bits originally fitted to the turbo S, including 030 brakes, 220 LSD, but not 030 struts. people often call this Turbo SE or 250 Turbo.

If yours is a 1988 car, it makes sense that it is a Turbo S (not that it makes much difference I think) If the sticker is still there in the boot, and says M758, then it's a Turbo S

I stand by to be corrected on any / all of the above [:D]

I just found this list of option codes
