Wiper Arms

Hello,

Some help or advice needed please!

Has anyone fitted new front wiper arms to their 3.2 Carrera?

I have a 1989 car and have just purchased new wiper arms and was advised the original single spring arms have been superseded by twin spring 964 version. upon inspection I noticed the new arms do not have a spline on the inside that locks them into the wiper motor pinion, I’ve spoken to both the special who supplied them and also Porsche Hatfield, both advised no further parts are required and there is no splined adapter, spacer or washers etc, they are secured purely by the nut clamping the arms down, this just doesn’t seem correct to me when the original sits on a spline.

If anyone else has carried out the update I would love to know how it went and if this is really correct?

Thanks....

I fitted 964 arms to my 3.2 a few years ago, firstly because the original arms were NLA and second, because they're just better. I've just taken one off my car and there is a spline on the arm, but it looks like the component could be soft metal, with the spline being formed when the arm is tightened down.

I've never had an issue with mine.

Hope that helps.

Chris has it spot on, soft pot metal will form its own splines when you tighten the nut up. Wider nut covers required too!
