Winter Storage Tips

hi All

ive just put my 991 GTS away for the winter and wanted some tips please.

ive purchased an indoor cover from specialised covers which I have to say is really good, well made, fitted and really good quality.

ive also purchased a Trickle charger from Porsche and wanted to see if any owners had any tips where best to route the wires that plug into the cirgrette lighter as when the doors shut is does look a bit of a tight fit against the wire And I don't want to find its makrked the paint when I get the car back out in the spring - any tips appreciated.

i haven't made any other special arrangements with fuel oil or tyre and am a little worried about flat spots, is it worth investing in something to park the car on like mats or ramps?

many thanks guys, I've had a number of Porsche / 911 but typically not been able to store them for winter which I wanted to do with the 991 to keep it as tip top as possible

It was actually an article in December 2015 Porsche Post (997 Register)

One of the joys of owning a 997 is that it can (and in some peoples’ opinions should) be used all year round. However, here are a few tips for those wishing to cosset their pride and joy so as to avoid the inclement weather and salted roads.

Cleaning: Give it a good wash including a power wash of the wheel arches to remove all the crud. Before garaging it, give it a good run to dry off everything and to avoid corroding brake discs
Condensation: Fill the fuel tank and leave a couple of small bowls of dry rice in the cabin to absorb moisture. Keep a dehumidifier running. WD40 bare metal components and locks.
Electrics: Leave a smart charger connected to maintain the battery level.
Tyres: pump up the tyres to reduce the contact patch and occasionally roll the car back and forth over the coming weeks.
Wipers: pull them off the windscreen to prevent sticking or wrap them in cling film.
Leakage: slide a drip tray under the rear and any leakage wil be identifiable later.
Handbrake: leave this off and the car in "park”. Manual transmission leave in low gear with the wheels chocked.
Engine: check all fluid levels and intermittently fire the motor up until warm.
Paintwork: use a good quality dust sheet to prevent swirls and scratching.
Tax and Insurance: consider obtaining a refund for unused portions while the car is off the road.
Follow these points and this will help with trouble-free starting next spring.

You're welcome.
You need a smart charger, CTek is the most popular, plug it into the cigar lighter socket (or aux socket in the passenger footwell. Rest the charger in the floor well or passenger seat (pref on a pad of some sort) and feed the mains cable through the front end of the door seal, adjacent to the curvature and just below the window. Shut the door and the cable will be held there by the door weather seal.
You could put piece of flexible sleeving over the mains cable to protect it, if you wish - I use spiral sleeve.
