Winter Covers

I have just bought my first Porsche, a G reg 944 S2. I will garage it over the worst of the weather, but thought a cover may be good to stop minor scrapes from the kids walking by and from tree sap etc.
I have heard mixed reports about whether covers are a good idea or not.
I would value any opinions and any recomendations for a good cover/supplier.
Cheers
Andy

Welcome. A cover is a must in summer or winter. There are plenty out there on fleabay just depends what you want it for? You say the car will be garged? So just a light cover will suffice I think. BTW we like photos of new guys cars on here [:)]

Hi and welcome
Rob got it wrong - we want pics first![:D]
I have a cover but only use it in the worst of the weather, when you'll be garaging yours.
An outside cover must fit tightly and be well tied in and
MUST go on a clean dry car, something that I find is rarely possible in winter when I'd like to use it!
So I'm not sold on them.

Welcome aboard Andy..! I dont know if you are aware but newbies to the forum are obliged to post pictures of their car... We all love pictures[;)]

I got one of these as recommended on here !

My car is now parked in a shed full of turf. The shed is dry but open .. [:D]
Turf apparently absorbs moisture from the atmosphere !

Here's a link to a discussion here a while ago and another forum with my views & input http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=631142&mpage=1&key=car%2Ccover&#632333

The right cover is a good idea as long as you are aware of issues and limitations. This will avoid disappointment at best and paint damage at worst.

It must fit tightly and must wick moisture out

If it is loose it will rub the paint off on sharp or curved contact edges

Thanks everyone. I'll take alook at these sites. I have posted a picture as requested. A few jobs and I think i'll have a really sorted car. I have enjoyed it so far and will continue to do so before the poor weather comes.
