Windshield wiper pump not receiveing any voltage.

Hi, I own a Boxster S 2003. And noticed the windshield pump stopped working.
My car has no headlight washer.

I thought easy enough, bought a replacement windshield washer pump in design911. After I plugged everything in and re-filled with fluid, I find out the same result! The wipers work but there is no fluid pumped :(

Now I am un-sure how to fix this, these are my findings:
  • Previous pump is definitely shot (Shorted). I connected it directly to the battery and got a bit of sparks and wires got hot.
  • New pump definitely works, same as the old pump I plugged in directly to the battery and could hear it working.
  • I measured on the connector that goes to the pump and I don't receive 12V.
  • I checked all the fuses and they are in good order. Especially row C position 16 that is for the wipers.
  • I also checked the only relay that I think is related to the windshield wipers, Relay 16 above fan relays, when I remove it the wipers do not return to their resting position just stop in any position so I assume the realy is working.
Do you know what could be wrong? A lot of people tend to say the wiper stalk could be wrong but if that was the case the wipers would not work right?

Is there any other check I can do to check solve this issue?

I think you have covered all the obvious areas.

I would be tempted to take the car to an independent Porsche specialist for a plug in diagnosis, could save a lot of time and frustration, or their experience will come into play.

please let us know what happens, we can leant from these things.

My my only thought is the failed pump did not trip the fuse, is there a continuity of the power feed from the relay to the pump connector, and if there is a good ground from the pump Connector?

I guess the next point to check is the washer "switch" component of the stalk.

I think I have a copy of the wiring diagram somewhere - send me a message if you would like a copy.

Thanks ! I believe I've done as much as I can. I agree I think the problem now lays on the stalk or the harness. I checked continuity between the ground cable (brown) and the body, and it has ground for sure.

If it is the stalk is not so bad news as I was already thinking of retrofitting cruise contol. If that is the case I can kill two birds with one stone.

I think I will take it to a specialist so they can do a proper diagnostic and let me know before I pull the trigger on anything else.

Do you recommend any specialist in west london?
