Windscreen washer

Tomorrows my MOT just topped up water and windscreen fluid tested the sprayer and no spray I can here the pump going no water tho
I disconnected some tubes sucked some water threw so pipes are not blocked from tank to pump I also sucked water threw the pump but I'm getting no spray. WHY????

The pump doesn't seem to be sucking but was last week could it be just that the pump is F@&k€d....

Could be that your washer nozzles are clogged. Try blowing through the fluid pipes on the nozzle side and see if the jets are clear. You can use compressed air for this if you have it but make sure your are pressurizing ONLY the nozzle side - if you pressurize the whole system you can damage the pump and will likely blow some pipes off in places that are hard to get to

Check out back pressure valves. They are located near the nozzles.

What model year car do you have ? Between 1982-87 factory used VW Golf pump. 1988-1995 (944 & 968) a Porsche specific pump was used. Early model pump can be bought nearly all automotive parts stores.

It's a 84 and does have a aftermarket pump on at the moment ill pop in to euro parts this morning on my way to test station pull over somewhere and try and get it fitted.

Usually the non return valves near the nozzles built into the tee pieces that block up. You can clear them with a syringe and white wine vinegar (take them out first) if they wont clear out you can remove them and pipe directly to the nozzles as a temporary fix.

The end that sits in the washer bottle can also get green & slimy and clog up - just pull it out and have a quick check

Been going through the same issue lately - cleaned all the system down from the tank up to the nozzles, taking apart all the hoses and cleaning the return valves that were a bit filthy. Compressed air opens them and I can see them close, but the only way the fluid will come out of the nozzles is pathetically drop by drop on the hood as if there was no pressure in the system.

I tried the pump on another car and it works, and there is no leak in the system. Puzzling...
