Wind Deflector

Need one of these - and have been looking on Flea-bay. Before I spash out though - has the deflector remained the same throughout the life of the 996 - if I bought one from a 2004 car, would it fit my 1999 C4???

The Porsche PET (parts lists) show the same wind deflector kit for all Cabs 98-04, so you should be OK.

Just had a closer look at the PET. The deflector itself is the same for C2 and C4, but there are a couple of extra "retainer plates" on the C4 kit. You could always get them afterwards if you found one from a C2.
 
Its actually a good buy too. The wind deflector I had in my Boxster did next to nothing. The one in the 996 is really quite effective.
 
The wind deflector for the 996 cabriolet is a definte bonus. Well worth the money - especially if you go f - a - s - t. No neck ache etc.
 
I certainly wouldn't of gone without the deflector fitted [:'(]
It made a massive difference to how windy the cabin was.

Makes a huge difference, would definitely recommend getting one. NOt difficult to fit and if you don't need to rear seats can be left in all summer
 
Thanks ..a club member is going to give me a loan of his to try out before I buy and see first hand the differance ,the Boxster I had before was not to windy it is the back off your neck that gets it.

In addition with the wind deflector fitted, it did allow the rear seat backs to be used as shelves/storage and the wind deflector keeping the items secure against blowing out of the car and secure against being easily lifted by undesirables.
It allowed me to pack and travel to Lemans and get to keep the roof down all the way there and back [:D].

Against is people then think its a two seater and must be a Boxster [;)]...

Bought my wind deflector on eBay. It's the best £150 I've spent for along time. My wife has long hair and thinks it great as a hat is no longer required even at motorway speeds.

Being as were discussing cabs, If anyones interested in a Smartop for a 996 cab 2004 > (996b) PM me, open to offers.
It allows the roof to be closed whilst moving, all windows to be raised whilst the roof is down and the roof to be raised along with the windows via the keyfob remote.

IMO the wind deflector is essential on a cabriolet. Avoids the wind noise and the sore neck that can occur.

I did not find it too difficult to fit or store [and I am a strict technophobe!] - and it does cover items on the rear seats or, at least, make them more difficult to see. In a perfect world, one would not leave anything of value on the rear seats of any car but sometimes it is essential.

Go for it, is my advice.
 
A nice club member gave me a loan of his to try and have to say I am sold on it ...what a differance it makes ,I had to drop down the rear seats though to get it to fit and is this product a one fits all.The chap who gave me it has a Carrera 2 and mine is a 4 there is one on Ebay which is out of a 2004 turbo and the guy say's one type fits all... any ideas
 
Brian I have a mate who is in the process of trading his 996 cab for a 997C4S......his deflector is for sale ....£100 ,if you are interested pm me.
