Yes they are all not major issues, mainly run of the mill stuff. I will probably need the engine removing to replace my rear hoses but i was aware of these types of issues before i purchased the car. Like you i have alway fancied owning a 911, it was on the tick list so to speak. I have nearly purchased two previously during my life. In the 90s a Martin turbo in 1992, i was twenty at the time. I owned a BMW 318s, not so main stream back then. The only dealer was located in Warrington for spares and i got friendly with the parts manager, who had a big Porsche guy friend. He offered one of his cars to me a Martin Turbo (left hand drive) for the princely sum of £23K back in 92. I remember looking at the Z roadster in the showroom, top spec sitting at £19k and wrongly thought i could buy new for less and declined his friends offer. I think at the time it was an extra £10K over the asking price of a LHD 911 which you could pick up for the £14K mark, which was more than the cost of my 1988 318s BMW new, to put it into perspective. The second chance of ownership was a 993 Carrera 4, M reg in a dark blue colour on at £20K with a lot on miles on the clock. I think the year was 1998, didn't really like the look of that car from the word go, no test drive, the blue colour did nothing to highlight the classic shape of the car. I don't regret not purchasing these cars, funnily when i walked through the classic car show yesterday, every car i have every owned (not including the latest stuff) is regarded to be a classic. Even my second car , my beloved MG Maestro! I was telling the owner yesterday how many bad memories i had from owning that car, but owning that and an XR2, help me home my mechanical skills. I have been around the Porsche scene with my 924 for at least three years now, i got to know the cars, spoke to the owners on the stands at shows, frequented the forums (not really much going on there in the way of help for the amateur mechanic), got friendly with part suppliers and eventually specialist. Thats why i was confident when i purchased my cab (cabs are usually abused in my opinion, one that was shared with Cath) that i had found a very good example. I would have been very foolish to think a 11 year old car would not poses a few issues. Like i said to Cath, lets bottom these issues and then its just a matter of keeping on top of things that crop up.
When I get the bills though i always remind myself that the last new luxury large SUV that i owned, i was loosing £450 a month in depreciation, thats £5400 per year for being parked on the car park at work or on my drive. I swear if anyone did the maths before purchasing a new car the industry would collapse. At least with what we have now we can have fun, there is a great Porsche scene, they are a fantastic drive and a beautiful looking car. Good luck with your car also and i hope it brings many years of enjoyable experiences and pleasurable memories.
