Taking advantage of the good weather and the stunning scenery around Wicklow, a drive is planned to take in both the Wicklow Gap and the Sally Gap on a circular route around the mountains. The drive should take no more than 3 or 4 hours (depending on traffic) and would involve numerous stopping points along the route for viewing and photographs.
People wishing to travel on this scenic route should meet and the Dublin Porsche Centre (off the Belgard Road) around 11.00(am) for an 11.30(am) departure. The route will follow the N81 past Blessington. From there we shall travel up over the Wicklow Gap "" stopping at the summit. From there the tour will progress through Glendalough, Laragh and Roundwood. After passing through Roundwood we shall climb to the summit of the Sally Gap "" stopping once again en-route for photos and to wander around.
Upon reaching the summit, we shall progress down the mountain (avoiding the sheep) and arrive back on the N81 just outside Brittas. From there, people can head back to meet at the Porsche Centre, or disperse in their own way.
This will be an informal tour with us stopping in Laragh or Roundwood for a carvery lunch in a local eatery. Maps of the route will be provided, so people can feel free to drop out at any stage and enjoy various parts of the tour at their own pace.
Let me know if you are interested. Region 27 (and PCGB) members are as always welcome.
