Who's been done for speeding?

This is only for speeding offences not, drunk in charge, no tax/insurance etc.

To keep things simple, can we keep this to within the last three years so as to avoid confusion regarding lapsed offences etc.

3 points I was in the patrol. A contraflow and narrow lanes, workers equipment other side of Armco, no workers bank holiday. I was in the left lane and doing 65, traffic light and clear dry weather. I was lasered across 3 empty lanes by a van hidden amongst the construction equipment on the other side of the armco.

Exactly the same happened to me, on the M6 - although I was doing 61 at the time. Didn't get any points though because the case was eventually dropped. I contested it on about 5 technicalities: had to write 3 letters but we got there in the end []

It may be useful to see what people have in the way of detectors (I know we shouldn't break the limit etc.!) and what are recommended are what are trash.
I bought a Snooper SD815i, which is in the bin as it was total rubbish.
I know there is no fool proof system and nothing beats using your eyes.
I would like one which you can put some trust in with good warning etc covering the range of 'speed calming' devices. (and make you a cup of tea)

I have a Road Angel which I find very good - I probably wouldn't have got caught if the other people in the car hadn't been arguing at the time. []. RA was flashing and bleeping but you know how it is when you are distracted.

I was, 3 points but in my renault 5. I got six points in as many months with that car. I've had my 944 for seven/eight months now and am completely 'pointless'.

Big question: "is my 944 more sensible than my Renault 5"??????

Lived with eleven points for two years. Six of those in four month span in my little old Renault 11 turbo. Did it slow me down!!! mmmmmm []

Just lost another subsequent five, but they stay on for 12 months after your three years is up, DAMN!!!

All Road Angeled up now which is a fantastic bit of kit. They have just brought out the Mark 2 version. Best £350 I have spent.

I haven't had any for years, but the last I got beats all your 6 points in x months.

I got 6 points in 13 days in my 911, but that was getting on for 10 years ago now.

So far I don't feel so alone being in the "3 points" zone.

I'm surprised/pleased to note that some have been cautioned, perhaps proper policing does still exist in some parts of the country.

I wonder how many fewer would have three points if it wasn't for the scameras?

And after 49 votes the spread hasn't changed any. Granted a sports car club isn't, perhaps, the best environment to get a totaly ballanced outlook on such things but it does seem that 50% of us have broken the law. The other 50% may also have done so but just not been caught doing it yet.

Interesting that a lot of us weren't in the porsche when we got caught, could we be more alert when driving quicker? Maybe thats why the 'speed kills' campaign and covering the country with cameras, humps etc is causing more deaths, slower drivers are more easily distracted.

I think you have something there. I recently drove to Edinburgh for a wedding, and cruising up the A1 (very slightly) above the limit, I felt alert and focussed. Through the 50mph sections (littered with cameras), my mind was constantly drifting off, thinking of other things - I couldn't help it.

I'd like to understand the 'technicalities' you used to get off as I suspect I will be getting a love letter from plod within the next few days having seen the mobile 'safety' van on a bridge over a three lane section of the A46 on my way down to Walton Hall....

The road was almost deserted at the time - just what is the point?
