Who Owned this?

Don't know car.

But it should be 2.5 in that year, 2.7 wasn't fitted until late '88.

Alan.

The advert is full of bluster (AKA crap), but itd be alright if it wasnt too dear. The tombstone (a name usually misused) sports seats are nice and would be very nice indeed with the bolster repaired.

Thanks guys. I didn't think of the 2.7l engine, I've asked if it's been changed. And yes, add has a lot of hype, but low mileage and supposedly good condition. I was thinking of a £1400 or £1500 bid.

Not sure about the paypal only payment, no mention of cash on collection.

It's the 2.5l, he made a mistake on the description. Paypal only payment is due to buyers trying to negotiate a discount when picking it up. I think I will put a bid in, can't sit around looking forever!

Yup, a fair amount of BS in the advert and I bet being an early dash model with that amount of wear on the bolster that it's been round the clock at least once so is probably 165,000 miles.

As for "enthusiasts like it kept original" that's true, original isn't torn! I'm always a little sceptical too when people claim a job is cheap and easy to fix, why not fix it before you sell it then?

Seems a good buy for the money though and with a bit of fettling will make you happy!

Yeah, didn't believe the mileage but if he has the MOTs for years then I'll be able to work out how many times it's been around the clock! And I agree about easy jobs, I've always had them done on cars I've sold. But, I want a car that's structurally sound but needs fettling, hope I picked one that fits.

Sounds like there's a few straightforward jobs for you to get stuck into and everything else being what you want.

Enjoy her, mine makes me take a second peek everytime I leave the garage.

I see it's a sunroof delete model ,a bit rare and you wont have any problems with water leakes. The sport seats are a nice option too.
Congratulations ,seems pretty nice.

Yes, black and brown were relatively common. Grey beige was available too, but I havent ever seen it and Ive been around the cars for a while.

When I get it back I'll post photos of the interior, opinions would be appreciated. Originality isn't everything to me, but I'll have to decide whether to repair it, recover the seats, or perhaps put others in.

The very best seats are Recaro (although all seats are made by Recaro) sports bolsters and Porsche script cloth is far harder wearing than any other fabric. They can only be bettered by leather sports seats. Id repair if possible.

When you go to pick it up have a good check over the bodywork, especially sills and wing bottoms, if all good then great buy. If not then then it has been mis-described in add and you could back out off sale. There are no pics of bodywork at all in advert.

Be cautious, ebay and paypal rules are there to protect you as well as seller, I think?

Good luck, and lots of pics if you get it.

Alan.

Yeah, he won't take cash on collection, only paypal. Asked if he is happy for me to transfer money on collection as paypal should be instant, no reply yet. I'm not willing to pay in advance but can't make the trip to view before i pay.

I'm no expert but will have a big look around. In theory I could walk away if it's gone around the clock as it's advertised as low mileage. I might ask if any members are from Portsmouth who want to check it over with me once I work out when I can get there.

Had a reply now, going to try to pick it up Wednesday. He would prefer bank transfer, not as much paypal protection but still through eBay.

what's his problem with cash on collection? If he won't accept that then I think that should raise a concern

He says that some people turn up and try to negotiate on price. I'm not going to pay in advance so in my opinion cash or bank makes no difference, so not entirely sure why it does to him.
