who knows about 1992 cup VIP car?

hello all, I edited this post

does someone know about a 1993 964rsr but according to the chassisnumber it is a 1992 cup
after the first season the car was rebuild by the Porsche factory to a 3.8RSR car.
can this be true?
does anyone of you know about the practice to rebuild a factory cup into a higher race spec RSR?
does anyone know the chassisnumber of the 1992 Vip Car? Martin?
does anyone have any pictures of the 1992 vip cup car when it was original?

thanks in advance
Hgo

You interested in the Lammertink RSR (Porsche Centrum Twente) Hans?

It wont be easy registering that in BE[:D]

Indeed Mld,

it would be too difficult to get this car on the road in BE
I also find the price too high (altough it is for sale for less then they put on their website at the moment)
How 's your car going?

what evidence do they have it was built by the factory,a few cups have been uprated to rsr but rarely by the factory.
Porsche motorsport usa uprated a few 993 cup cars to rsr spec, and some 964.

does this proof anything?

To me it proofs that it´s a 92 Cup car with a 92 engine, modified in 93. Engine capacity (bigger bore), weight, width and height are different by 5th January 1994. It was transferred from Carrera Cup to FIA-GT.
Normally the Wagenpaß shows the owners of a race car and all the races the car has done (page 10). So the full information from the Wagenpaß tells the car´s history. On page 4 all the owners should be listed, if it is (was) the factory it says "PORSCHE AG". The front page should show the owner, too. That was normally a sticker with "Fa. Porsche AG" for the factory. Also on page 4 (bottom) the owner has to sign the fact that the car is correct for the group (in this case FIA-GT).
As far as I see it doesn´t say anything about who modified it.

It was a common thing to rebuild and modify former Cup cars, e. g. the 1993 24 h Nürburgring winner (widebody also) is the former 1991 Gerhard Müller Cup car, run and built by Team Konrad.

If you want to, PM me for more Wagenpaß-info.

Hacki, you can find the full link here 964 RSR

It must have been the VIP car, it was driven by 1993 500 ccm motorcycle worldchamp Kevin Schwantz, I think I remember that spectacular race. (As Mel pointed out)
First owner is the factory.
Car was sold to W. Mathai in 1993, a known name in Porsche sport. He had it modified, probably. He´ll be the one to answer your questions in detail.

I doubt the factory modified it.

VIP car was no. 1 and also driven by other race celebs...seems a fair price with that history despite the alterations.....

Nice car,the wagen pass has good detail and gone on a few years unlike most that either get lost or not filled in, or even filled in later.
Probably better back as original, leave the engine as is and faster than rsr body.
I would say not a factory conversion,as it would have either had to have been done at weissach or the repair department at stuttgart, but it could have been!!May be a apprentice project at the repairs department, not the first time,Must be some paperwork somewhere for who converted it.

Just had another thought, how genuine are the parts
ie rear tail, ali doors ?,steel arches, sills, front spoiler, bonnet etc
3.8 on throttle bodies ?

Doors and bonnet are aluminium.
engine is not original anymore, it came from an adapted 993 turbo engine
car is restored in 2009, but transferred from black to white

they claim to have the paperwork on the RSr rebuild to proof that it is done at Weissach

Hans

adapted turbo!the case would need to have been bored for 3.8 then,or slip fits fitted, porsche would not do this, they would have fitted correct 3.8 cases, which are no longer available from porsche
Just get the proof of weiss faxed to you,i dont think it changes much on values any way,its a neither or,but a great race car with some good history.
It would need to have all the right engine parts for the price, sounds like it was not scrimped on when built if its factory full rsr doors.
A interesting car,get it bought at the right money if it has the correct parts, engines bit of a bummer though.

Probably worth converting back to the VIP cup if you can find a 3.6 engine.

Keep the doors mind.

Still looks like a Bitsa and not worth the current asking price.

Tom's refubished Cup looks better value and is a fully restored Cup.
