Who has the highest mileage Boxster

Have you ever had a breakdown on tour from a failed component ? I notice your pic was taken in Germany, a country we like to tour by car whenever circumstances allow. Never had a reliability issue abroad but there is alway the slight niggling doubt of a first time.

A few with lower miles but mine to put into the pile is 41k on my 1999 986 2.5

Still plenty to add to get to 250k!

thanks for the post :)

Hired fox..

no special prep for overseas trips, just get the car up to spec on maintenance or interim oil change.

have overseas cover on uk insurance and a credit card.

dont bother with tools as impossible to fix anything on a Boxster, but there is always a specialist somewhere.

had a dicky switch on the clutch pedal last time, but got luck and got home ok.

my 987.2 has only 69k on it but 2 big tours happening in 21/22 so expect a good 10k added, and looking forward to it!

Hi Johnathan, thanks for your contribution. 41k seems a very low mileage for a 22 year old car, but as you say it has many more years of life left in it. Keep enjoying the pleasure of driving a Porsche.

Yes I agree, these cars are built to be driven and don't like sitting around. My 2004 986.2 has just turned 70k, bought 18 months ago with just 59k on the clock.

Never had to put any oil in, and only a drop of water once. The 2.7 is surprisingly economical on fuel for the quality of driving experience, especially roof down and sun shining!

Most exciting car I've ever owned, and look forward to many more exhilarating miles. In the words of JoBoxers - 'Do the Boxster beat...':ROFLMAO:

Maybe you misread the tile of this post? [;)]

You could always start a "who has the lowest mileage per year" thread but I guess you'll be inundated with garage queens.

154000 miles hit on monday night [8D]
Pretty impressive Skoosh1970 but compared to Paul08's earlier post you just qualify for having run your car in as his friend has over 250k on his odometer.

There is a lot of life left in your car yet. Happy motoring!

Thanks for contributing.

Paul

Touche Paul, by my reckoning however, a 1997 Boxster covering 250000 miles = 10000 miles per annum on average.

Using the official Top Trump method... my 2010 Boxster with 154000 miles = 12833 miles per year on average.

So, assuming i keep her until 2035 i may have covered 320825 miles..........i'd expect Porsche to buy her back from me [:D]

And i may be forced to fit her 3rd clutch by then too.

Si.

Interesting thread and good to see honest mileages being reported. It is hard to believe the extraordinary number of alleged low mileages of many Porsche sports cars offered for sale especially older models. It seems incredible that people would restrict themselves to 2k miles pa if lucky enough to own a Porsche.
For a lot of people a Porsche is a 2nd or 3rd car for fun or tours of events so a lot do between 2 k/5k annually with a good few with insurance for the amount they intend driving.

But some are everyday cars fair play.

Back to the highest mileage I wonder what's the highest mileage still on the original engines.

I sold my 2003 986 in 2009 with 80k on the clock. Even then there were a few folks on boxa.net with 250k on their 986s. I sometimes wonder where they are now!

Really? Not in the world I live in. How the other half live eh?

If you keep your car long enough and keep up your average mileage you will probably catch Paul‘s friend and even surpass him in the years to come. It’s good to know you probably use your car as a daily.

However I’m more interested in how many miles you got out of your clutches as I‘ve done 70k and my clutch doesn’t feel too good.

thanks

Paul

...I changed the original clutch at just over 150k.....yep that's correct, 150k on original clutch.

Not a daily for me but was for the one and only other owner I acquired the car from at 142k in October 2020.

Wow, good to know, thanks. Mine has only done 70k so probably not ready for a clutch yet, hopefully.

cheers

Paul
