Where to source parts which Porsche no longer supply

Hi all,

I'm looking for a gasket for my boot - part number 951 512 465 02.

Having looked at the parts catalogue, the part is simply described as an 'additional gasket'. See item 19 from in the link - http://content.yudu.com/Library/A1s88d/KatalogPorsche944/resources/1079.htm

Any idea where I can source this from? Apparently Porsche no longer supply this part.

Thanks in advance,

Jabriel

Great link. Prices in the US never cease to amaze and frustrate in equal measure...

For example:
- Genuine Brand new Bosch 944 AFM Recon - $219 from Autoatlanta - Uk price £450.54!!!!!!!!!

All for a part made in the EU - what is going on???

Autoatlanta seem to have their fair share of detractors on American forums; whcih has put me off dealing with them.

Possibly not like for like. How can a part be both brand new and "recon" (meaning reconditioned, I assume)?

The parts from both sellers are identical - I have spoken to both.

Perhaps my oxymoronic description could have been better [&:].

From what I can gather, the situation is this:
- Bosch produced X number of AFM's during the 80's and early ninties to satisfy production (plus spares).
- 20-25 years on and most, if not all, of the original stock has now dried up.
- So, in order to service the market, Bosch now reconditions units in small volumes. New parts are used throughout, save for things like the casing and flap (new tracks, boards, mechanisms etc etc). This is done across the industry for high value items, such as water pumps and starter motors.

You can spot a genuine Bosch remanufactured unit from the build sticker.
