Where to buy a black interior or parts thereof?

Hi guys

Just picked up a bit of a beater in view of putting in a lot of spare parts that I have accrued over time. I wanted to make it into a nice street/club car and that would include a nicer black interior as opposed to the rather 2nd hand cream version currently in the car. It's an '86 turbo in Garnett Red metallic. I can pickup a lot of interior from the U.S. but of course the carpeting in the footwells are the wrong side for us. So I'm looking around to see if anyone might have some for sale or could direct me towards somewhere that might?

Cheers

Sorry did not spot you were down under in Sydney - Try this one near Liverpool[;)]

Hmm, interesting. Didn't have all new stuff in mind but nice to know it's out there. Thanks for the links.
Was looking for perhaps someone that's stripped out a track car or if there are knows wreckers that deal in this sort of thing?

I have a few interior pieces to include carpet, door cards, grab handles etc. let me know what you need and if I have anything I could send you some photos if you PM me your email address.

Hi Patrick

There's a few Porsche salvage specialists here in the UK which may be able to help although I can't vouche for any of them today.
Porch-a-part
Douglas Valley Breakers
Prestige Breakers
P H Sportscars

There's more if these can't help, one thing to say is that one of these companies had some bad press in the past so be aware. Iirc I may have used two of these companies many years ago, possibly P-a-P and PH for various parts, one of which was a very nice LSD gearbox which has run faultlessly ever since.

Good luck

Pete

Thanks a bunch guys. All very helpful. I only picked up the car today and haven't compiled a list. Need to see what I have left over and go from there.
It should be quite a nice little club car once completed.

1) 2.5 motor with bigger cam, Garrett/Tial GT30 turbo, custom wet sump.
2) Vitesse V-Flex Maf etc with pump and E85 maps
3) KW '2-Way Race' suspension
4) 5 speed gearbox with Motorsport LSD and S2 Crown wheel and Pinion.
5) Big Reds up front on floating rotors
6) Enkei wheels
etc....

With a nice black interior and new paint I hope it increases in value enough to make it attractive to prospective purchasers. [;)]

I'd be interested in your views on the V-Flex Patrick once you get to grips with it as I plan to upgrade my Vitesse to this latest version.

Id look for a complete trim & interior and ship it. Ive seen linen and burgundy interiors with good dashes sell for £425 & £375 recently, both with sports seats.

Pete, I ran this motor for a few years with a few tweaks here and there. In the former car, which was a little bit lighter than this one, it was as quick as the fastest GT3's in our club on the track. I ran Vitesse product for a few years with success. My mechanic Sean runs it on his '86 with a turbo s2 motor. That is faster again of course. The only thing that I'd say potentially holds the V-flex back a bit is the inability of altering the ign...but he may have addressed this by now. I might get splinters from sitting on the fence on this, but if I was doing your build I'd be considering V-Flex, Rogue Ant, or full standalone.

Simon, I've got a good black dash already, which was purchased from the UK incidentally. I think it was from Alisdair if memory serves me correctly. I can't believe that you can buy the whole interior including sports seats for those sums you mention. Wow, that's cheap. I think I want black interior, but the car's colour isn't the easiest to match. Where did you see them for sale if you can remember?

Theyre undesirable colours compared to black Pat! The linen set was froma breaker in Manchester, whod listed it BIN on eBay for months without any interest and the burgundy set was from a member here, Steve Simkin. I was tempted to buy that just because it was so cheap, but it doesnt go with Guards Red!

The burgundy set actually sold for £325!: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4089338.htm

Shipping wouldnt be cheap, as Im sure you already know. There was a massive disparity in proces when I last shipped anything to Aus (September 11th 2001), with the best deal being half the average quoted by others. Even then I paid £125 for 1.5M3. I delivered the stuff to a warehouse in Sheffield and assembled it on the pallet and they banded and wrapped it, so it was a bargain, I think.

John has indeed addressed the ignition issue with his latest version, like you I have found the Vitesse products top stuff and will continue to use them. Standalone EMS is on my list but not for this round of mods, it will have to wait a little longer.

Wayne, sorry I forgot to answer you. I may well send you a request for some of the items you have. Thanks for that.

Paul, haha, yes, what was I thinking. To be honest all I have is the Ebay ad. As I said, it's a beater. I paid less than he was asking but it would still be quite a bit more than you'd pay in the UK for a similar condition version. The only saving grace is there's no rust!

Not so thrilled with the colour. Might have it resprayed but changing colour adds quite a bit to that exerci$e so I'm told.
