i say you can drive it abit before it needs replacing , but the sooner the better , if it start to rumble then it possible best to replace asap.

When mine was on the way out you could here it, droning along especially at motorway speeds, easiest way to tell is get up to speed and dip the clutch, if the noise continues its the bearing. Mine was noisey for a while before I changed it though, it wasn't an advisory on the MOT! The noise was annoying!

Following in the footsteps of the 944 trip to. Germany us R7s are out here. Been at the ring today.

One of our group as an s2 cab an is convinced one of the rear bearings is going. Thinks there is a whine bit then some of the surfaces do that. Put hands near discs and hub when we got back to the hotel and one side was hotter than the other.

So finally to the question, what are the signs of wheel bearing failure and how long to fail once they get noisy?

I believe that they can rumble for sometime - could also be a driveshaft. Changing is straightforward if you having the correct tools (arnnworx best bet) and you'll need a very large impact gun, torque wrench and breaker bar + scaffold tube. The rear hub nut is very tight !

ORIGINAL: Frenchy Wrongly adjusted handbrake will warm the hub up and cause noise, worth a look ?
Good call? Jacked it up and could hardly spin the wheel. Paul is blaming this for his spinon the ring. Since there was no dàmage I want to get the video online as his wife's screaming is brilliant.
