i found this pipe lurking in the side well of the boot, under that big cylinder thing (what is that too ) in the boot, of my cabrio. What is it from ? does it do anything? thanks

Big cylinder (drivers side) is a cab balance weight. No, I don't know what it does either.

Pictures: upload them to a website (something like photobucket.com), and then put the URL reference to them (taken from the website) in between tags like this:



The picture will then appear as it should, in the post.

That looks like a hatch lock drain tube. It affixes to the bottom of the latch and drains through the bottom of the wheel arch.
 
That looks a lot like the drain tube for the fuel cap recess, I had mine out the other day as it was blocked.
 
Simply copy the link from photobucket, click the little "postcard" icon on the right of the toolbar and paste it there. Simple, failsafe, and no messing around with IMG, img, or anything else. [:)]

Pipe does look like fuel filler drain, it's the same as the sunroof drain on coupes. It should be in the car! [&:]

The shock absorber thing is just that, designed to absorb the movement in the shell caused by cutting the roof off.
