What is this , where does it go.

My 1983 2ltr 924 had a small back-fire and on inspection it seems as if the air flow plate had been pushed down.
I saw that this had happened when I removed the air filter cover box and the rubber moulding on top of the air flow plate.
I found this clip in the bottom of the housing. My question is where does it go? and how do you fit it back in its place?

Something that I `dabbled` with during my VW Golf days ... the engineering in the KJet systems is superb :rolleyes: [:D]

That is very helpful and the sketch you have shown shows exactly where it goes and I think how it needs to be fitted.
I have the Bosch instruction manual (which has yellow covers) but the drawing you show is not in my page 13 or anywhere in the booklet, it just shows a side view of the sensor plate without anything under it.

Incidentally the back-fire almost blew out the No 1 injector, I removed it easily by hand and have fitted new O rings.
I will report its fitting and the result. I have been driving the car without the clip having bent the Blade Spring up, to support the sensor plate arm, this does not give a steady tickover, I think the plate bounces on the blade spring!

Thanks again Andrew, I fitted the spring clip back in its place today and all seems to be back to normal. Tickover at 950 RPM and starts ok. Fitting it was a bit fiddly but it went back on the arm into the place where there are cut outs to take the spring. The diagram speaks a thousand words. I have now got the car back on the road, it's my daily driver.
